    Triple up yesterday!
    Bootcamp
    Gym - back and tris
    Evening swimming

Felt ok actually and swim was great. Don’t think I’ll continue this much longer. Bootcamp is more to help out the swimming club and kind of an unnecessary expense considering I’m a member of a gym that offers bootcamp classes. Still, really enjoy them and can understand the popularity of these types of workouts.

Legs today. Not bad. A bit tired but powered through.

Unusually social weekend having to go to gf‘s work Xmas party on Saturday and then her family thing on Sunday. Partners really shouldn’t come to these work things but it was pleasant enough and I was quietly chuffed that people kept asking me if I was a PT or worked in fitness 😁. Must be doing something right.

For whatever reason the temp has plummeted here since last week and the pool was farking cold on Saturday and particularly this morning. Wasn’t fun having to do a 50 max effort then bear crawls around the entire pool. Thankfully it’s a 25m and not a 50m pool!

    6 days. Time flies....

Saturday was pretty much the perfect day. Good swim, good run, good intervals, shit load of yard work done, pool cleaned, fixed a door, some paid work done, finished Christmas shopping, had some quality time with the youngest and ate a whole pack of tacos. Then had a pleasant evening with the gf which ended with some much welcome horizontal refreshment. Yeah good day.

Monday: coach Hitler kicked my arse as usual. Fucker loves bear crawls.

    Shit 9 days!

Apart from Christmas Day blowout I’ve been pretty good. Unfortunately that blowout was one for the ages. Shit I made a pig out of myself.

Lack of poolage means much more running. Bit meh but at least not falling off the wagon. Will be interesting to see how packed the gyms will be in the new year with all the New Years resolutionists.

Back to swimming this week. Hitler was back as well.
    Warmup was
    300 swim, 200 pull buoy, 100 kick
    200 swim, 100 pull buoy, 50 kick

    Main set was
    25max, 10 seconds rest, 25max, 1 min rest x 2
    Then
    5 burpees
    10 pushups
    15 squats
    20 shoulder presses
30 alternate arm taps (push-up position then touch opposite shoulder while supporting body weight.
Did 5 rounds of all that. Fucker was timing the max efforts so they had to be legit.

    Good shit.

Was at the gym doing shoulders today when it was announced that the entire city will be shutdown for one (1) farking case of Covid. Absolutely insane. So of course people went the full retard and the supermarkets were mobbed. Fück you Pallachook🖕

Obviously no swimming tomorrow. Guess I’ll run. Surely I don’t have to wear a mask for that?

So back to the lockdown Saturday routine. 8km run then 10 rounds of intervals.

Tried to do this with a mask but it’s impossible. Got some dirty looks from some overweight dog walkers and a couple of comments but fook them. I’m happy to mask up on public transport, shops, planes etc but running in the suburbs is absurd.

Sore as hell now but was a good session.

No swimming obviously so did a 4km run followed by 5x intervals. Missed the pool but was a solid session.

Lockdown ends soon but mask mandate remains for 2 weeks 👎. At least sanity has prevailed and no need to wear one in the car and for strenuous exercise.

Ha. The future potential Mrs MN5 was shocked that I managed to keep reasonable pace with her ( runner ) during our big walk up the Akaroa hills.....then she pointed out my legs are a bit longer so apparently it's easier for tall folk.

A tallish friend of mine reckons it’s so much easier for shorter folk. But he’s a lazy fat bastard who always offers up excuses so I’m not sure how accurate that is.

I have no doubt she's fitter than me in terms of cardio......but like I say I can do ok at 6 foot 3 ( just ) vs 5 foot 3 ( more or less )......I'm also loving our calisthenics/explosive training. She's getting heaps better at that !

That’s cool. It’s good to try new stuff and get out of your comfort zone. Certainly also helps to have a partner that you can share that with 👍

    Where are we... Thursday.

Youngest had a swimming camp so I went to local gym/pool and smashed the legs and then swam for 2km. Was good shit.

Thinking of trying a push/pull workout next week. Looks pretty good.
