Ran 5km to pool, did this

    and ran back.

Was good shit. Hard to believe that the burpees were the easiest part!

Back to swimming this week. Hitler was back as well.
    Warmup was
    300 swim, 200 pull buoy, 100 kick
    200 swim, 100 pull buoy, 50 kick

    Main set was
    25max, 10 seconds rest, 25max, 1 min rest x 2
    Then
    5 burpees
    10 pushups
    15 squats
    20 shoulder presses
30 alternate arm taps (push-up position then touch opposite shoulder while supporting body weight.
Did 5 rounds of all that. Fucker was timing the max efforts so they had to be legit.

    Good shit.

Was at the gym doing shoulders today when it was announced that the entire city will be shutdown for one (1) farking case of Covid. Absolutely insane. So of course people went the full retard and the supermarkets were mobbed. Fück you Pallachook🖕

Obviously no swimming tomorrow. Guess I’ll run. Surely I don’t have to wear a mask for that?

So back to the lockdown Saturday routine. 8km run then 10 rounds of intervals.

Tried to do this with a mask but it’s impossible. Got some dirty looks from some overweight dog walkers and a couple of comments but fook them. I’m happy to mask up on public transport, shops, planes etc but running in the suburbs is absurd.

Sore as hell now but was a good session.

No swimming obviously so did a 4km run followed by 5x intervals. Missed the pool but was a solid session.

Lockdown ends soon but mask mandate remains for 2 weeks 👎. At least sanity has prevailed and no need to wear one in the car and for strenuous exercise.

Ha. The future potential Mrs MN5 was shocked that I managed to keep reasonable pace with her ( runner ) during our big walk up the Akaroa hills.....then she pointed out my legs are a bit longer so apparently it's easier for tall folk.

A tallish friend of mine reckons it’s so much easier for shorter folk. But he’s a lazy fat bastard who always offers up excuses so I’m not sure how accurate that is.

I have no doubt she's fitter than me in terms of cardio......but like I say I can do ok at 6 foot 3 ( just ) vs 5 foot 3 ( more or less )......I'm also loving our calisthenics/explosive training. She's getting heaps better at that !

That’s cool. It’s good to try new stuff and get out of your comfort zone. Certainly also helps to have a partner that you can share that with 👍

    Where are we... Thursday.

Youngest had a swimming camp so I went to local gym/pool and smashed the legs and then swam for 2km. Was good shit.

Thinking of trying a push/pull workout next week. Looks pretty good.

Had a great 4 days away at beautiful Moreton Island. Ridiculous I’ve never been there before. Fark going to Bali or places like that. It’s just a 90 min barge ride from the frigging city!!!

Anyway was very active. Shit load of swimming and climbing sand dunes etc. But was absolutely zonked when I got home. Probably didn’t eat enough to cover the stupid amount of activity. One thing that struck me was how strong a swimmer I’ve become in the open water. It’s much easier. Don’t even need flippers for snorkelling. Clearly that training is paying off.

Back to gym this week and after much consideration and research am giving this a crack.

New swimming timetable involving Friday mornings. Not ideal but can’t complain. What I didn’t realise was that coach Hitler does Fridays now!!! Thankfully it’s less of a shock to the system these days despite being pretty horrific. I then hit the gym a little later for some pull work.

Have been a bit off form all week due to camping and probably not getting enough fuel into me. I’ll make up for that tomorrow 😁

Got through the Saturday swim then run/intervals ok. That is never easy and I’m glad I don’t cut corners. So bizarre that I’ve just turned 42 and one of the things I most look forward to in the week is 2 and a bit hours of pain on a Saturday. Then caught up with old mates who I hadn’t seen in a while. The feedback I get these days is nice. I do all this for my mental health but the comments are a pleasant bonus. No doubt also good for mental health.
Mate who counts calories was there. He hadn’t eaten all day and was saving himself for the steaks, beer and snacks. Screw that shit. I smashed all that and then had 2 pies, a packet of nuts, a bowl of strawberries and a protein bar when I got home. Cheat day bitch

Double up on Monday. New gym routine in the morning and swim in the PM. Good shit.

Thursday already! New gym routine going very well. Excellent mix of exercises and some nasty finishers (10x10 kettle bell swings on the minute, 100 push-ups, 6 sets of farmers walks).

Routine is now 5 gym sessions, 4 swims and 1 run+intervals. Problem is Herr Hitler who runs the bootcamp I was attending weeks ago wants me there. Fucker keeps guilt tripping me. I want to support the club but fark that’s getting into overload territory.

I've just started incorporating knuckle push ups into my routine, more range of motion, stablising muscles engaged etc. After a bit of a health scare on Sunday I have taken it easy for a bit but working from home today I busted out a few sets of these. If you film yourself ( #nohomo ) it's really good to see how your form is and if your arse is sagging or too high.

Shit, hope everything is ok Mate!

Knuckle push-ups are a total cnut. Like burpees
