did back today, and went 10kg over my previous deadlift PB, nailed it. Felt good, so thought I'd add another 5kg...felt like I'd added 20kg for the extra effort it felt like to move, but I did a single rep, stoked as! 💪

been smashing plenty of tin still!

99kg this morning, so after a breach of my IF routine yesterday with sausage rolls, mini bacon and egg pies, club sandwiches, and my kryptonite, ginger crunch (when its good) at morning tea, then 4 beers at lunch and wife bring home pizza for dinner, I was pretty pleased with that (makes me realise once I hit my goal weight of 95kg I should be able to manage it)

HAve a new favorite exercise, snatch grip high pulls!

Tried another bump up on my dead pb, only added 2.5kg this time, but wasn't feeling it on the earlier sets, so when it came to it I didn't even feel close to moving it, and didn't.

So dropped 10kg off and did 4 reps without straps and finished with 15 reps of 100kg.

98.3kg this morning, creeping down slowly, but was really feeling sluggish as I ended my IF today at 12 so not really surprised I didn't have anything to lift heavy

in my workout today I tried zercher squats instead of front squats!

Mean exercise, really felt it in my core as well!

Dropped under 98kg over weekend, but a few beers yesterday and too much salty food saw me still at 98.3kg this morning.

hit a brick wall with deads the last month or so.

AFter hitting a PB just before NY, I have tried the same weight again 3 times, but just havent got it, in fact wasnt really close.

I am increasing my volume, with 8-10 reps of 20kg under my PB, so I think I might need to use that as a point to build from again.

Making great progress with chins and pull ups, did 8 x 80kg zercher squats on monday, so feeling good on those and man they destroy you!

Added dips back into one of my workouts too, often neglected due to my shoulder issues, and while it can be uncomfortable sometimes, overall feels great getting back into those!

Also been adding some farmer walks at the end of my workouts, usually just grab a couple of 45kg DB and walk round the gym, great finisher.

Tipped under 98kg most days this week, so as I suspected, the last 3kg of my journey to 95kg was gonna be tough (well doing it properly without just starving myself)

I weighed in at 96.3kg this morning, losing almost 2kg inside a week

Had a big night on Saturday on the beers and lots of tasty nibbles, of which leftovers was bought to work on Mon/Tues to finish.

I am sure it is a coincidence, but the one thing I have changed in the past week, eating dates!

Having 3 or 4 about 1930 every night.

did my heaviest bench for sometime today (5kg under my PB) 2 reps without a spotter (well I did have a spotter, just didnt need her )

    So pretty stoked with that!

Only thing, the lady I asked to spot for me (just a random at the gym) after wards, I had a thought that she may have thought I was hitting on her! haha

As if, I have seen her there with her partner, he is about 6'4 and about 120kg, an absolute beast, and was deadlifting 250kg without belt or straps last week!

Still hovering in the 96kg range, have gone well over my daily kcal intake a few times, but have largely been in deficit.

slight tweak in my lower back on Thursdays workout (doing deadlifts, which right now is the only exercise I'm not making gains on, despite making best gains pre-New Year)

Was quite sore Friday, but spent some time stretching, and felt about 85% Friday night, then played golf yesterday in an Ambrose, hit the ball better than I have for a very long time, put several out past 300m, even put a drive on a 281m par 4 8 ft from the pin, one of my team sunk the putt!

My team shot 64 (-6) and we coulda easily been close to getting under 60 with some luck on our putts!

Anywhoo, my back bloody tight again this morning, but did some stretching, went to the gym and did some work on my core, and feeling decent now.

Maintaining my weight in the 96s, which is good as I have stopped IF and eating breakfast again (porridge with a serving of protein powder)

When you get back into dead’s after a break the gains shoot through the roof initially but then really hit the wall and yeah I remember a bit of a twinge after deciding ( stupidly ) to bust some out a mere four days after my last session. Be really careful with them and get someone to critique your form so as you know the back isn’t rounding too much.

Living the dream......inspirational that you’re making gains at your age ! ( this is not as condescending as it sounds, we’re getting to the age where things gets tougher and muscles start to waste away if they’re not used ) so great work pal !

.....and that’s what it’s all about. I still have very few greys but I’m reliably informed they’ll start appearing in much greater numbers sooner rather than later if the old man is anything to go by.

I’m gonna delay the ageing process as much as humanly possible ( no this does not mean colouring my hair )

    Thats awesome

I did my first bench set today in about 4 years. The plan I have says 5 sets of 5.

So I muscled up and punched them out at 60kgs...

    And I'm 102kgs!

    Fuck I'm so weak.

@voodoo any bench is better than none, it'll come back pretty quick though!

Tbf I've pretty much always done push ups (did that damn push up challenge and 25 was piss easy) they build such a strong foundation to go from.

What us pleasing is when I was in my prime I could only just do 100% of my body weight, and I weighed less, today was 125%.

Push ups are definitely handy for this, good to do variations too, on your fists, explosive ones, diamond ones, weighted ones etc once regular ones become too easy.

@mn5 did 2 x 120 last night, TR Jnr reckoned I had 3 in me!

So pretty stoked with that, am working toward doing pistol squats (using resistance bands to assist at the moment)

I do diamond push ups every week (instead of close grip bench) and can do 20 of those easily enough, so yeah they do provide a great base to go from.

3 days off the gym at school camp I would have thought would do the body the world of good...alas, sleeping on a mattress in a tent on the ground where my head touched 1 end and my feet the other, provided me with probably 2 of the worst nights 'sleep' I have ever had!

Woke in the mornings, with tight back, neck and shoulders, even a bit of tennis elbow I had been managing and was al but gone returned with a vengence!

Watch told me I had 6 hours each night, but both had tossing and turning, and little quality sleep.

Needless to say, sleeping in my own bed last night, was such a relief, never been a big sleeper, getting by on 6/7 hours a night, but gee, when the quality of those 6/7 hours is nil, it hammers you!

Smashed a workout this morning as I felt I really needed to give my muscles something to be sore about!

Totally agree about quality over quantity. 5-6 hours uninterrupted sleep is much better than 8 hours of getting woken up all the time. Trouble is that if I get more than about 7 hours I’m gone the next day. Body goes into hibernation mode and wants more. Not fair. Wish the body was like a battery that needed charging but it’s far more complicated than that

Depends on the individual. I’ll roll over in bed and get abused from the potential future mrs MN5 who is an incredibly light sleeper, she’d wake on average five or six times a night. I’m not quite at that level luckily.
