@bovidae I had to look it up:

    All Blacks Sevens 14 - 5 Australia

    Black Ferns Sevens 19 - 0 Australia

    They've been livescoring here: https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport/2021/05/live-updates-all-blacks-black-ferns-sevens-v-australia-day-one.html

I thought the team the AB 7s started with lacked a bit of pace.

Of course the real value of the games this weekend is just a hit out.

Koroi looked a bit rusty where his timing was a bit off (threw an intercept try and another forward pass) so this game time will be good.

I wot told last night that the local Fijian Community down here in Wellington are organising some sort of 7s tournament to be held sometime in late October. At this stage they are looking at 16 mens teams and 8 womens teams.

Black Ferns very messy in this game. Handing Oz opportunities in the first half. 19-5 Oz so far

I thought NZ might pinch it at the end.

Lose: "Clarke going at full speed."

If you actually watched him, you could easily see that Clarke wasn't even running at full speed.

The tries to Clarke and ENS showed exactly what they can bring to the team.

If an AB7s player is in trouble, good chance it's Koroi. Not impressed with what I've seen from him thus far.

Clarke, ENS and McGarvey-Black looking dangerous.

@stargazer said in Invitational, provincial, local & school sevens tournaments:

Wow, that Aussie no. 1 is fast!

Got skinned in defence easily though.

    10.1 best on the 100m.

Did Knewstubb have money on an Aussie win? Kick the ball out!

@crucial Yeah, as we have been able to see when Carlin Isles is playing, if there's open space and he can go for a run, he'll easily score because he's fast, but when it comes to other skills, including on defence, he doesn't stand out at all and is sometimes pretty ordinary.

I understand that Aussie no. 1 is new to sevens, so he's still got room (and time) for improvement.

Liked what Mcgarvey Black and Clarke added. ENS backing himself more too which is good. Best player today was Teresa Fitzpatrick though
