    As of last night, my friend's family's home was 1km from the evacuation zone. Hope they're still outside it!

    It's not as bad as I thought it would be in Chch tbh. Parts of Pages Rd are very flooded as usual as is New Brighton Rd but nothing I haven't seen before on those roads.

    A lot of effort has gone into flood preparedness, although there are still a few vulnerable areas. Much worse elsewhere in Canterbury unfortunately.

    Ashburton bridge closed after motorists reported feeling it sag underneath them. That's SH1 fucked. 20K+ vehicles a day and the diversion is 40kms

    They had the bridge on TB news last night and some idiot standing on it watching the torrent. I commented how dumb that was as it was going to go. I would rather not have been right.
