Just been watching a repeat of QI and it featured a NZ comedian. Rhys Darby. He didn’t seem very funny. Is that the case?

    Pretty much.

Comes from the Leigh Hart school of comedy where if you keep telling people you are funny some of them end up believing you.

Similar to the school where you say no one is really that funny but you probably like Miranda Hart and secretly have all of Mrs Brown's Boys on dvd?

I can't figure out if you're correct: and claiming that Leigh Hart, Rhys Darby, Miranda Hart, Mrs Brown's Boys - all belong in the same basket. (Along with Michael McIntyre, every modern NZ 'comedian', Benny Hill, Graham Norton/Alan Carr or any other comedian (comedienne?) whose shctick is "I'm gay, flamingly so... so laugh"
Edit: .. oh yeah, include James Corden.)
A basket which should be drenched in oil and let the flaming do its thing.

Or... are you incorrect: actually defending Leigh Hart, by throwing muck...

    ?

He’s a talentless, fat, obnoxious fuck. I think it was @RL who said some crap along the lines of him being a “national treasure” or other such bullshit. Christ on a bike, give me strength. I lost all sorts of respect for Anthony Keidis after I watched them singing in the car.

Yeah - I only added him as you'd mentioned him. He is (was) just a.. nobody in my mind. Where did he come from? Why does he exist?
One side of my parents seem to watch both Miranda and Mrs Brown's... so I unfortunately discovered that they're a thing, on one of my infrequent trips home. That was... unpleasant.
But Corden... just suddenly appeared on the Big Fat Quiz of the Year... and I had no warning. It was just... "shit, this gormless fluffybunny just appeared out of nowhere. That's not cool."
Shit, Russell Brand was just pure irritating schtick, but... at least I knew where it had come from, to some extent.

I think he starred in a show in the UK ? @Bones ?

Maybe that’s just life, they interview and interact with real, genuine superstars. Perhaps they’re supposed to be…..”relatable” to us ?

I’d rank David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel and guys who’s names I can’t be arsed remembering along similar lines to be honest.

Yeah - never really got Letterman. Kimmel seems a cheap version of that.
Occasionally... very occasionally... those guys seem to come back with a "quick quip". And that's about it.
    Any-hoo...
It always irks me that one of my favourite bands, definitely one of my all-time favourite live bands, they're fucking magic - The Roots... I sometimes feel obliged to describe as "you might know them as the band from Late Night with ... <some fluffybunny. google tells me Jimmy Fallon>"

Questlove, hell of a drummer !!!

I quite enjoy most of them.
Except "Have I Got News For You" - that is just fucking horrible. Maybe that's the one you mean? As it seems to think it's "clever" - but is the worst of the lot.
"Worst cringe garbage on earth" - NZ's attempts at recreating them.

    Fuck you.
You know my penchant for self-harm in regards to "entertainment"... now I'm going to search for examples of that on youtube.

At least Ursula Carlson is as hot as she is hilarious.

Don’t forget Tom Sainsbury because impersonating the way Simon Bridges talks is just SOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny.

I didn't get that far into the rabbit-hole.
I lasted a couple of "highlights"... before remembering that youtube is going to capture this activity, and use it to provide "suggested clips" for the rest of my life.
    Again, sir... fuck you.

    Fair 'nuff.
Like I say - I enjoy most of them... although I do see how some might differ. They do verge on a bit of a circle-jerk with a certain british "clique" of comedians at times.
And at other times - the opposite - bringing in people from outside the clique, just struggle as they don't fit.
But I still can't help but laugh whenever Sean Locke refers to Rachel Riley in her ski-gear as "well that's a challenging wank".
Likewise - the "Susie Dent... what have you been looking into recently? Apart from glory-holes."
And any time Sean Locke started, or got pulled into, a Hitler bit.

Bonesetta is a huge fan, most of the humour is terrible, seems like they've taken recently to throwing in canned laughter and turning it up to 11 when they hilariously caption a photo with something that isn't funny and not even linked.
