It's here! ... Team of the Year

@no-quarter said in It's coming! ... Team of the Year:
I would struggle with nominations as I only really watched the ABs this year and only a couple of them deserve nominations, and that's being generous.
dude this whole thing is just going to be guys who played well against us, and maybe a couple of token aussies and saffers if people watched the rest of the RC. Expect a bunch of French and Irish players.
Does anyone even remember the 6N?
And before anyone kicks off, i am including myself in that. I mean, i watched the England v Aus game and it was dogshit so i couldn't tell you who played well.
-
@mariner4life conversely, I watched all of France v Australia series, and enjoyed it immensely - but still can't really remember who played well cos I have a memory like a sieve
-
I know some of the Frenchies played well but fuck knows what their names are

yeah, the 7 was really good, so was the 8, and i am pretty sure one of the midfield. couldn't tell you anything else about them, or if i even saw them again.

True, the problem is we normally dominate all and sundry, so just watching the ABs and no-one else isn't a problem as it's clear we are the best team so deserve at least 14 out of 15 players in the team of the year. Outside of Aaron Smith and maybe Jordie I just can't make a strong argument for any of our players based on this years form.

Apparently I ran the polls in 2019. Here's a link to the results https://www.forum.thesilverfern.com/topic/3662/tsf-team-of-the-year
Remember the old M4L before he got beaten down by covid?

General Kala: What do you mean Flash Jordan approaching? Open fire! All weapons! Dispatch war rocket Ajax to bring back his body....Jordan's Alive!!!
-
@Chris-B oh yeah I forgot that tinny bastard
-
@no-quarter To be honest, the only people who still think Jordan is tinny are people who haven't been paying attention.
-
@Chris-B Beauden is also a tinny bastard. Shit just seems to happen for him. I'm actually a big fan of Jordan so happy to see him getting regular game time, he's the kind of guy that can break open a tight test.

Not a nomination but Reece similarly seems to get more than his share of lucky bounces. Some players make stuff happen. It's not (just) luck.
-
@no-quarter Yeah - but, these things don't happen by chance - for Will or Beaudy - I'd add Reiko to that list.
Extreme pace, decent size, skills - putting yourself in the right position.
Jordan's had "tinny" applied to him far too much - this year and last.
Already one of the best attacking wings we've had - ever.
-
@delicatessen Yeah - he puts himself in position to make things happen and when they do, he's got the speed and skills to capitalize. No surprise he's close to the top of most recent try-scoring charts.
I looked at a couple of highlights reels of Loius Rees-Zammitt when they were nominated for breakthrough player - and they're basically the same player.
-
@Chris-B yeah, my comment was mostly tounge in cheek, the same comments get directed at Beauden hence the comparison. People talk alot about Beauden not being a traditional 10, but not many acknowledge how many tests that were actually closely contested in the forwards have been blown apart by him creating something out of nothing.
Jordan is the closest thing we've had to Cully, the tries he scores are freakish in nature, he'll be an absolute asset to us over the next 5 - 10 years.

Whatever you do, just don't make the coaching staff part of the team.
Another bout of Foster v Jesus Crobinson would finish me off..
Buddha not Foster same shape. And Buddha knows how to coach Rugby just as well.
