Have to say I thought Weber was fantastic. Passing a bit wayward at times when firing to the typical 10 position but otherwise really key in just keeping the plays going with remarkable speed and decision making.

Seu must be in AB selectors thoughts.

Re Weber. I love his enthusiasm and the pace of his game. Just needs to work on not spraying the passes.

Seu. Another on the list of promising 6/8s. And plays a bit of lock.

Chiefs were good in the first half. Looked like the Chiefs.

And were the Chiefs again in the last 15.

They were obviousky the better side and dominated the rest of the time too. But just couldnt get going. It was a yuck period.

I'm a fan of Weber but the accuracy of his passing needs a lot of work. Getting the ball out of the ruck super quickly is awesome when the Chiefs are constantly getting over the gain line but when they're up against a good defence, the extra half second Cruden spends reeling in his passes just gives the defence that extra half second to move up or reposition.

Not having TKB as the other option (starting or on the bench) has really hurt the Chiefs the last few weeks IMO.

    Mostly agree with this.

But Hammington looks ok.

    Good points

Other notes about him

Has the best dive pass in New Zealand **** i call bullocks
Reads the game effectively
Doesn't fuck around endlessly with the ball at the base of a ruck marshalling the troops and thinking I can sit here all day according to the laws of the game so I will take my sweet time (meanwhile the defence re-organises or even counter rucks and suddenly the presentation of the pill gets messy)
Isn't annoyingly yappy.

    Tony Pulu went ok.

Sir John Kirwan was doing analysis in the studio (which you probably saw) and he called for Bird to lift his game, I had noticed that he had been off the pace in his first few games back from injury as well. He looked like a menace tonight.

I'd put ALB back to 13, Tamanivalu to the bench.

Great first half, crappy second from the Chiefs.

Mike Harris singlehandedly kept the Rebels in the game. They looked clueless across the park.

Frustrating for those of us at the game. 5 pts and move on.

As others have said, I have also been very impressed with Bird in recent weeks (I thought he played well vs the Highlanders too). He always had the physical attributes but did not impose himself on the game, so I never rated him that highly. It's very noticeable now with his aggressive ball carrying, cleaning and tackling. More please.

DMac is becoming too predictable on the counter-attack. You can't fault his courage running at bigger players but sometimes a kick is the better option.

Weber took a few wrong options last night when he ignored overlaps and went the wrong way. I'd like to see him take more control at the back of the scrum.

Speaking of scrums, the Rebels especially were feeding the ball under the locks feet. I can't believe the ARs didn't pull them up once - PIckerill was in Gardner's ear all game but ignored the obvious.

Humm. Seu is far from reliable as far as defense is concerned. Can't stop the men running at him in their tracks and always concedes a few meters. Missed his tackle for Harris try.

He simply needs to bulk up. I believe he's not far north of 100kg, and given how tall he is, you get a sense for much bulk he can add to his frame. Give him a couple of years then he will really be in the ABs sights.
