@bovidae Be interesting to see how he goes at coach. I must admit never a huge fan even as a Cane's man, but he might be good as coach.

There'll be a lot of happy 5th formers (yeah I don't know the equivalent today) looking forward to lots of game time with this announcement.

@stargazer many new faces in there this year, a few of those were at Kamo High last year.

Lost a few players too, mainly due to leaving school, but a few key ones gone which will likely hurt.

So Vernon Bason was only a year 12 last year. He was one of the NZ Schools hookers.

With preseason starting this weekend (some trial games have already been played), here's a reminder of the Experimental Domestic Safety Law Variations (EDSLVs) that are being introduced in the 2022 season:

    EXPERIMENTAL DSLVs

Several Experimental Domestic Safety Law Variations (EDSLVs) are being introduced in the 2022 season which Provincial Unions must introduce. In addition to the EDSLVs, there are a number of Selected EDSLVs (SEDSLVs). Individual provincial unions may adopt any of these and trial them in identified grade/s of rugby if they so choose.

    Teenage

Following a series of trials in Provincial Unions competitions, workshops, and working groups, five Experimental Domestic Safety Law Variations (EDSLVs) are being rolled out across Secondary School Rugby in 2022.

These include scrum constraints around resets, a new offside line for the opposing halfback at the scrum, and the addition of amending field dimensions to Game On.

You can find the "Selected EDSLVs" here:
    https://www.rugbytoolbox.co.nz/the-game/rugby-laws/experimental-dslvs/selected-edslv-trials

All these domestic law variations come on top of the World Rugby law trials that are already being used in Super Rugby (50:22, goal line drop-out, flying wedge, 1-player prelatched and Targeting of Lower Limbs at the ruck).

@stargazer In the absence of a media release Feilding Ag must still be conducting trials before finalising their girls 1st XV.

I see that Rotorua BHS will be playing some Auckland teams in the preseason but none of those are Moascar Cup defences.
