Just watched Summerslam, then watched the latest AEW Rampage.
The opening match from Rampage was so much better than anything in Summerslam. This is just from a weekly tv show, not a PPV.
This video just shows the last 5 minutes of the match, which had action like it for the full 15 minutes. The quality of wrestling is so much better in AEW than WWE at the moment.
Lots of reporting recently that WWE's strategy is to take big guys and teach them wrestling, and that they have ceded the recruitment from the independent circuit to AEW, and its partnerships with Impact and NJPW.
I know what I would rather watch
Those guys are far too normal looking. Where are the natural Andre sized Giants and chronic steroid abusers ?
WWE, that's why they are going away from wrestlers from other companies, and training ex-footballers and other athletes instead. It goes in a cycle (every few years, Vince gets a bee in his bonnet), but never works that well because the great wrestling booms in the past have been built on experienced wrestlers from other companies, not home-grown athletes turned wrestlers.

Watched AEW All Out. The best PPV wrestling show I have ever seen. So many amazing matches.
Here is the tag team match - Lucha Brothers v Young Bucks. Surely the match of the year so far. Damn, you can really feel the emotions in the crowd during that match. Match starts 5 minutes into the video

This is a long thread to read, and some good videos to watch amongst the posts too
Second part of the thread is here
I am more invested in the Hangman Adam Page & Dark Order storyline more than any other wrestling, and more than most tv programmes I watch. To be honest, I will be gutted if he does not beat Omega at Full Gear in a weeks time
-
Long read - article written by "The Mad King" Eddie Kingston, about his life up to and including how he was signed with AEW. Very down to earth and honest. I'm hoping he upsets CM Punk at Full Gear

Great promo between MJF and CM Punk to kick off this weeks Dynamite. Bold programming move for the entire first segment to be a promo, not a match, but worth it
-
Following the shock appearance of NJPW contracted kiwi wrestler Jay White earlier in the show, it was also a debut for Keith Lee in AEW Dynamite this week, after being fired from WWE.

Hah had never seen MJF as don’t watch AEW but thought he looked like a wish version of the Miz. CM Punk always good on the promos

Vince sex scandal. Is this kayfabe? A work? A shoot? What is real?
-
Vince is stepping down. He just did a short appearance to introduce Smackdown, didn’t say much (maybe later in the show?), but he looked and sounded awful, looking very old, the bags under his eyes are startling. Been a very tough week doubtlessly, I wonder if he’s had any sleep. He looks defeated tbh.
“The most important thing is that we are in this together.”
Cryptic. What does this mean? Are Steph & Trips pushing Vince out of his own creation? Is Vince going to go scorched earth and risk burning it all down??

It's all a work - Vince has 83% of voting shares in the company. He will not be stepping down. He is even still working there as head writer for Raw and Smackdown

Wrestling stopped being good about 20 odd years ago when all the massive steroid freaks got phased out….or died

I'm a fan of the lucha inspired westling that is becoming more common these days. Lots of high spots. One of the things I like more about AEW/RoH these days is they have a good mix - some big guys and slug fests and athletic aerial stuff too.
I think AEW does well showcasing all styles - Young Bucks (all high spots) and FTW (whose motto is fists not flips).
-
You’d have to believe he’ll be inducted into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot.
-
So long as Levesque isn’t booking himself, he’ll do a good job. If he knows what he’s doing, he’ll emulate the relationship Berry Gordy had with Smokey Robinson, hand the keys to Paul Heyman and tell him he has the green light and backing to do whatever he wants.
-
@Kid-Chocolate Agreed. I guess that John Laurinaitis will be let go too.
I hope the product has more focus to wrestling. I read that Smackdown a week ago had less than 15 minutes of wrestling in a 2 hour show
