    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/commonwealth-games/300649779/hayden-wilde-protests-silver-in-commonwealth-games-mens-triathlon-after-controversial-penalty

Based on the video and the rules in this article I reckon Wilde has a good chance of having his appeal upheld.

When is the bike "securely racked"? I'd say, arguably when the front wheel hits the front of the rack and you can see that happen when the back wheel comes off the ground.

At best, it's a massively pedantic hometown call.

My guess is that the particular official is looking at 'no hands on the bike' as being indication that it is secure. Wilde seems to say that he always leave a hand on for as long as possible as he 'leans' against the bike for a second to find his feet.
He unclips the helmet while he still has a hand on the bike but that doesnt mean that the bike isnt securely racked as he doesnt adjust it from that moment which proves that it is secure.
I get the rule but this is a 50/50 call at best, a hometown advantage at worst.

I dont usually watch tri but this format was a pretty cool T20 type one and I'd watch it more often if there wasnt knowledge that an overzealous official would ruin the ending our outcome.
People want to watch true contests not ones dictated by twatty officials (sound familiar?). UCI used to be terrible in this respect but have fixed it quite well.

@Crucial Yeah - I wondered if that was the rule, but "securely racked" is more ambiguous.

A good lawyer will get Hayden a gold medal! 🙂

Another notable effort was in the Women's team pursuit. We won silver despite having only three riders for the heat and the final.

Commentators at the time said it was harsh to say the least. Yee said it was BS. Wilde says he has been doing it that way all season and been fine. Get that man a medal 🏅

I know nothing about the sport and rules but if the penalty is justified based on the current rules. Then the rules seem a bit silly. It seems like his bike with in the rack before he took off his helmet.

edit. This if correct seems idiotic too. Surely it can be done a lot quicker. Like in 1 day.

The protest may take up to 30 days to adjudicate on and could possibly result in Wilde’s promotion to dual gold with race winner Alex Yee.

A sport with an administration that needs to move with the times (I've heard that before somewhere else as well)

The boys win the 4000m teams pursuit. And the boys win a bronze in the team sprint

I'm watching some of the replays of the track cycling too.

Rebecca Petch is a BMX rider who provides the power from the start for the women's team sprint team.

All 3 of the womens sprint team qualified for the head to head rounds although two are likely to get knocked out early.
Andrew’s should get to the last 8 at least.

T20 - NZWFs posted 167-2 against SA. Good surge made in that last few overs, where SA kinda gave up.

T20 - NZWFs win by 13 runs. They let SA off the hook a bit in the middle stanza, but got the job done in the end.

I decided sleep was in order and missed Andrew’s in the Sprint. Wish I had seen that live now. 5th fasted qualifier. I saw her lose her first quarter. Thought she might get through that and she did by to 2-0 the next two riders (including the Olympic champ) for the gold is seriously impressive.

Goodness just imagine how many medals our cyclists might have in the bank if the culture in their programme was not toxic!

@Higgins Hopefully the Kiwis are heading for a record medal haul, our previous best was 17 Gold in Auckland in 1990.

What a time he swum in the final.

At the rate he is improving he must have his eyes set on Paris 2024.

@SBW1 actually quite amazing how many medals we've won so far.

    Still loves the Comm Games.

I mean I remember when I rode my dinosaur to actually go to the 1990 Comm games (caught a glimpse of Graeme Millar on his way to gold in the road race somewhere near Avondale ... and at the stadium saw Linford Christie (coughdrugcheat) run sub 10 to win the hundy and that Welsh guy Colin something win the hurdles ... ), and watched the '74 games on the very first colour TV in Kaeo (Dick Tayler winning the 10 Thou, and the 1500 where the bronze medalist EQUALLED the world record, and silver medalist John Walker became my hero for life
    .. for 10 years anyway ... )).

    But I digress ...

Huge medal tally to date ...
