I did the detox diet years ago but this looks even more strict ! well done on getting through it Hooroo but I can't figure out how you say you feel so good after eating nothing but that for a couple of weeks !
First three days I didn't feel great due to the massive change in diet but after that I felt naturally great!!!

I want to keep it off so I am sticking to it, to a degree for a while.

Main thing is, i am avoiding preservatives. I still haven;'t had any in three weeks now and I am sure it is making a massive difference
Even some foods that are " 99% fat free" aren't that flash due to fact they are processed to buggery aye ? Sugar is such a big one as well which is why when I drink beer I almost always make it Macs, not only is it by far the best eusa_whistle apparently it has a lot less sugar than other beers. ( not that I've actually researched this I've just heard....)

the "low fat diet" was responsible for diabetes going through the roof in America in the 80's - because all the 'low fat foods' were loaded with sugar....

people criticise the Atkins diet, mainly because they have never researched it and only think that it's no carbs - when in fact the 'no carbs' part was only a couple of weeks and the whole point of his diet is to only eat natural food, nothing with preservatives etc.

as he said - the human body has been around for millions of years eating such things as nuts, berries etc etc and it's only in the last "few" years that humans have had processed food introduced into the diet and the body doesn't handle it that well. Kinda makes sense.

but the key question is - Hooroo how much have you chucked back on since you've stopped? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

that's often the problem with these (for want of a better word) fad diets and detox things, stop doing it, and you go back to eating / drinking how you used to, and the weight piles back on.

That body for life thing, where it at least tries to teach you ton eat right 'for life' seems the best of the bunch to me, and worked for me (revised) for the last few years.

But you then have the Prop Cyril's who BFL's for 12 weeks, and is now back to where he started so more like a bodyfor12weeks for the big guy!!
Steering clear of sugar is the main one in my opinion. Luckily I'm not really into Donuts, Cakes, muffins and things like that. I do have a weakness for the amber liquid as the pisshead thread will inidicate and if there is a bag of lollies around I'll happily demolish them ( but if they're not there I won't bother, simple really ! ) Also stay away from stuff that is "99% fat free" as often it will be FULL of those evil carbs.......

Steering clear of them ( the old Atkins theory ) seems reasonably sound to some extent as well, afterall our ancestors from thousands of years ago survived on meat and greens, the ease, convenience and relative cheapness of fastfoods has meant mankind ( and who would've guessed NZ is the third fattest developed nation ? ) has suffered in the long run. French fries may taste great but shit they're bad for you ! ( especially the really slim ones ) as Bartman said it is breaking habits that is the trick. I'd say most ferners don't burn it off as easily as they did 10 years ago and have to take a bit more care of themselves nowadays.
