All rugby legends deserve their own thread at the end of their rugby career. So here is one for Kendra.

She has announced on her social media that 2022 will be her last year of playing rugby.
One of the best halfbacks ever to don the 9 jersey for New Zealand.

Here is her player profile on the allblacks dot com website: http://stats.allblacks.com/asp/profile_bf.asp?BFID=5146

She posted this on her social media accounts:

kendracocksedge9 From the age of four I dreamed of being an All Black, until I realised it simply wasn’t possible. However, at 19 my rugby dreams were realised and I was named in the Black Ferns!

After 16 years in the black jersey I sit here and reflect on my childhood dream. I feel incredibly fortunate for the experiences rugby has given me. I’ve had more opportunities than I can count, and have had incredible people alongside me who’ve inspired me to be my best everyday.

I never could have imagined I’d achieve all that I have, and I am so excited about the future of women’s rugby and the new generation of players, coaches and referees.

I have decided 2022 will be my last year playing the game I love.

However, it’s not over for me yet. I have a massive job ahead of me.

I am determined to finish on a high, wearing the red and black in the Farah Palmer Cup. I will also do all I can to earn my spot in the Black Ferns and fulfill my dream of playing in a Rugby World Cup on my home turf!

It has been my greatest honour to represent my club, my province and my country.

There are so many people who have contributed to my journey, I didn’t earn the black jersey alone. I thank you all for your support and aroha.

I hope I have done you proud.

Absolute legend of our game. Huge commitment and while it sucks (like it did for the men pre-pro era) she missed out on a lot while the women's game has been developing she is leaving it in an increasingly healthy state. Finishing up with a home RWC would be so fucking good - I ain't going to type the obvious follow on as I don't want to jinx her (or us!).

@Paekakboyz I agree an absolute legend, and glad she got the homw world cup so many who have just switched onto women's game can appreciate her!

Just out of interest was talking to a mate yesterday who went to school with her (obviously younger mate lol) in Oakura, was saying when she was a kid she was a pretty handy cricketer and played in north Taranaki boys rep team .
