@Crucial and at a level that barely makes a difference to the AB coaches anyway.

I just feel sorry for big Pita Gus!

yep, he never looked like a long term AB, and was in poor form when selected, I had similar misgivings when Seta Tamanivalu was selected for his handful of tests.

TBF though, I think wanted to represent NZ over Fiji, but still shit situation for him.

@Bovidae PT is not a consistent enough player to be a leader. Baffled!

Hopefully it means that TJ is only there in a supporting role. Good servant of the game but well past it.

He out-performed Weber on the weekend so what does that make Weber?

A halfback playing in a worse team? TJs pass is way too slow for international ruby now.

Yeah but I don't think Weber is much chop now either. From those three I hope Roigard starts.

thats fair, i think this selection just highlights the poor decision they made early in the year rather than this being particularly surprising or bad

whole international career down to 25 mins over 2 games including a try

I just wonder whether these guys get decent advice, when they are eligible for multiple nations. Does someone have an honest conversation; you are probably not going to be a 50, 30 or even 15 test All Black. Will half a dozen caps fill your apetite for the black jersey. Or wpuld you rather play 50 tests for Fiji. In saying that, predictions around their futures in the test team can be hard to predict until they are out there, same with fit in the team environment. We alao don't know what has happened behind closed doors.

I got about three-quarters of that squad and got paid a shitload less than an AB selector. 🙂

Sullivan and Bell mentioned in dispatches.

    Briefly considered Gallagher and Brewis.

Didn't have Gardiner, Lio-Willie or Heem in my frame.

@SouthernMann sometime i wonder if young professional sports poeple are often that...confident ...that even if someone told them that...they'd be "i can do this...i can prove im the best etc"

Sowakula's agent should be looking for a NH contract now. The fact he has been capped should increase his value. He is contracted for 2023 though.

Same with Peter Umaga-Jensen. Mind you, he looks to be carrying a shoulder injury so maybe he wasn’t considered. I guess we’ll find out if he's picked for Wellington this week or not.

Mate he can still go to Fiji for 27 WC, so hardly whole test career gone, the other thing is he got a test cap so escapes a lot of the problems of going to NH (he will get work permit for longer) and make some big money until Fiji pick him, if they do.

yeah, Nareki, our Umaga-Jensen, Holland and even potentially Ainsley have all looked better than the players around them this year....but i was trying to control my bias

TUJ & Zarn Sullivan the 2 biggest omissions for me, hopefully it's down to injuries...

The fascination now becomes how many of these players who missed out will be picked in Razor's Barbarians team.

Yeah someone really should have had a word to young Kaino and Nonu to represent another country after not being the best early in their careers.

Lomu should probably have gone to the 95 RWC with Tonga too after that shit show in 94.

There’s no one left in Canterbury to select.

Backs: TJ Perenara (Wellington), Brad Weber (Hawke’s Bay), Cam Roigard (Counties Manukau), Bryn Gatland (North Harbour), Damian McKenzie (Waikato), Levi Aumua ( Ta$man), Bryce Heem (Auckland), Alex Nankivell ( Ta$man), Bailyn Sullivan (Waikato), AJ Lam (Auckland), Ruben Love (Wellington), Mark Telea (North Harbour).
