Several All Blacks return for this game, but not all.

No Scott Barrett, Mo'unga, Blackadder, Reece and Ennor, yet.

    Is George Bell still injured?

Squad members Goodhue, Patafilo, Strange and Kemara played last Friday, but are not in this line-up; not even as replacements, but some non-squad members are still there.

    FROM THE PRESS RELEASE
While head coach Scott Robertson is wheeling out seven All Blacks against the Hurricanes, he’s keeping just as many – Richie Mo’unga, Scott Barrett, Sevu Reece, Braydon Ennor, Ethan Blackadder, Jack Goodhue and Will Jordan – on ice.
Only Jordan (migraine-related condition) and Ennor (ankle) are unavailable due to injury, although the latter is expected to be available to play the Chiefs in Friday week’s season-opener in Christchurch alongside the team’s other representatives.

Ennor is injured again? Had a bad run.

Yeah been a bit unlucky lately.

Be a good test of where the Canes are at at present. Hopefully its not a hiding

The Canes have plenty of talent of their own so I don’t think it will be one sided but it will be interesting to see what sort of side they put out. I’m hoping the likes of Lakai and Higgins get plenty of minutes to show what they’ve got considering they are the future.

Agree. I will wait for the team first though. Like you I hope Lakai and Higgins get a run. Not only pre-season but throughout the year at least in a small number of games. I'm keen to see how they go the next level up.

They should both get a few minutes considering Barrett and A Savea will need to be looked after as it's a WC year.

TBF, it balances out, unlucky with injury, but lucky with AB selection.

Pretty much a starting team, but Prinsep WTF?? another year of this crap
Lakai, Iose, Flanders Don't want to be too dynamic
And Proctor over Higgens But I'm not upset about that like I am Prinsep

I wonder what the state of the field in Levin is like. Is the drainage sufficient? With all the rain the region has had and is still having, the ground could be very, very soft and turn into a mud bath. The teams will be wary of potential injuries.

It would be good if teams could release an injury report in these media releases. No Sullivan again, so he must be injured.

    @Stargazer

Some interesting selection. But a typical Holland team.

Assume the only change might be Lomax starting next week. And maybe Mafileo as a replacement. Maybe Savea on one wing unless the starting 2 have great games.

That forward pack has a dad’s army feel about it, I don’t necessarily think that will be our starting side.

In the season proper I think Lomax will start ahead of Franks, I suspect Flanders will start (but maybe not in the 8 jersey), and I think Aumua would be the hooker over Coles and surely Roigard starts over Booth. Naholo is definitely not going to be starting so I guess you can only read so much into it. Also I think Rayasi will start over Naiduki.

@Canes4life Rakete-Stones will probably start, too, or Mafileo.

Yeah, Mafileo and Franks on the bench for me. Mind you in the heat of Queensland we might want more mobility so Numia might feature.

That first half Crusaders team looks stacked.

We are “ruining” preseasons as well 😎

Team looks pretty average imo. Razor will have his work cut out making this squad competitive.

Blues definite favourites then the Canes to advance to the finals this year from the NZ teams.

Feel sorry for crusader supporters. A joke team. Expect Canes to take them apart

@Canes4life Yeah, I know that of course, but there are no scheduled flights from Chch to Paraparaumu. They'd have to hire a charter, which is far more expensive than flying to Palmy. The difference in distance between Levin and Paraparaumu Airport (45km) and between Levin and Palmy Airport (55km) is negligible.

Yep Star and Palmerston to Levin would be quicker journey to.

I actually driving down from Hawera tomorrow, being a Levin fella from way back (and a sad desperate rugby man) , thought I'd go down and watch the game, and visit son and daughter while there!!
And have a sponge kitchen pie while there!

Has anyone seen/heard anything about a livestream? It's the Canes, so probably not, but still hoping.
