MN5's 2010 get ripped plan
-
Latest weigh in.....99.4kg. Not a great deal lost since last weigh in....I have been a tiny bit slack with the food, pregnant wife had a bad day with the boy and was stressed so it was "ah fuck it we'll get KFC". Trying to avoid things like this and that'll be easier when MN5 number 2 is born and she feels better !

Not going to the sevens will help my alcohol intake but will no doubt have a few cold ones with the old man as we're visiting over the weekend. Will try and make them low carb if at all possible. -
Don't sweatr it when you have a bow out MN5 - if you're going to have a weekend on the piss, have a weekend on the piss!! Eat shit food, drink lots of booze and have a great time!

Just be religious with your eating when it is time to be strict! -
yeah if you are constantly beating yourself up for slipping up with your eating plan you'll just feel stink bro. I reckon that we're getting fit as part of enhancing our enjoyment of life. For me the odd takeout meal and beers are definitely life enhancing!!

Thanks boys ( sniff ) that makes me feel better ! you're right though the odd day isn't gonna hurt. My main vices are booze and chippies/shapes etc. I'm lucky in that I don't particularly like donuts/cream buns and shit like that so they're never an issue for me. -
yeah I'm similar actually, don;t have a sweet tooth at all but I demolish savoury type kai. Chippies, fried anything, you name it I'll chop it! Luckily booze isn't one of my major vices : ) just a hobby!
As is often the case at this time of year for most of us I'm going to a few bbq's so as I alluded to earlier I try and not snack on the chippies and bread and instead load the plate with chops, chicken, steak etc and loads of greens. I also try and avoid too many processed sausages cos they're a bit naughty.

All the while indulging in the "hobby" but hopefully not too vigourously ! -
Reporting that there is nothing too report. One power walk with the boy on my shoulders and that is it. Was gonna do some weights but basically couldn't be fucked and have justified this by the realisation that it is often good to rest the old joints every now and again. Back into it tomorrow though.

.....actually I played lots of darts over the weekend, does this count as exercise ? -
I used to end up with a sore bicep the few times I would play darts. I think the fact I try and javalin the dart through the board might have somehting to do with that!! SO I would say yes, it counts!!!!
My opponent ( father in law ) did that a couple of times after he missed the double and busted. Good to beat him with my gentle lobs. No pain in the left gun at all though, I must be doing it wrong. -
speed work first then power bro - or an underarm throw for the triceps!
Underarming is only if you're attempting to go bust !

Some of my throws are so gentle they fall out of the board but hey, its all about accuracy not brute force ! -
Latest weigh in 98kg exactly. Surprised as I have been a bit slack with the food lately, Target of 95 by (mid) March still very possible. Still trucking on with the weights and having fun, punching the bag every now and again and my darts is ever improving as well.....

Latest update......and still around 98-99 kg. I put this down to being made redundant recently and being forced to slacken off on the food ie eat whatever is a bit cheaper rather than better for you. Still as I am in between jobs theres no excuses whatsover for not finding the time to do a few workouts. Did a personal best on the skull crushers the other day, like someone getting run over by a train I was chuffed to bits. -

That's shit house fella hope you're up and running work wise soon. -
Hope the job prospects are looking up MN5.
Just read through the whole thread and I'm also in the food intake will get you greater results than just regular exercising. No matter how much cardio you do, you simply can not out train a bad diet. Trust me I tried it for a couple of years and saw myself just gain weight despite upping cardio every gym session.

I have a few simple rules that I live by with nutrition - eat things in their most natural state; compare nutrition info on all packaged items; plan plan plan.

Things that have helped me lose more than 15kgs of fat and gain muscle are having broccoli, spinach and eggs every day, having a healthy breakfast to get the day off right, eating a handful of almond kernels between meals, planned ''reward'' meals, healthy snack alternatives, eat lots of fruit and veg for carbs. No bread (only a couple of pieces of burgen for a reward meal with my portebello mushroom burger), no processed cereals in a box, no pasta or potatoes (except some home made kumara oven ''chips'' with my mushroom burger above).

I'm not trying to be a BB and have no ambitions to be one, but I hated have the spare tyre and handles that had plenty of lovve to give. I hated getting my suit pants and jacket ''taken out a bit'',

The big thing for me was reading a heap of stuff and then finding what worked and then progressing each day, until a point that its second nature and I have really have no cravings for sweets etc, and enjoy the stuff I eat and understand how it assists the body fight fat and in turn assist with some muscle development.

Throughout this ''transformation'' process I have also come to learn that high intensity training works for me. I love going to the gym and doing low rest superset/circuit training combining weights and bodyweight exercises or going out the front of my house and running sprints, doing bodyweight squats, pushups, burpees etc.

Its tough stuff and I feel like punching something after doing burpee tabata superset with sprints for example, but its an awesome feeling pushing beyond physical and mental barriers that you didn't think you were capable of.

Anyway hijack over. -
spot on ACT, word for word. IT's what goes into your mouth that is the most important part of health! My training decreased when I started the BB lark, cardio is almost nil in the off season, and 30 minute cycles at an easy pace (talking) 5 x a week at the moment. I used to row, hard out, 100,000 + metres a week - trying to outrain a bad diet (I love that).
