@mikey07 don’t think it was a case of the Canes being too slow, more the fact the players wanted to represent Fiji. There’s an article about a year ago that stated Waga Nalaga had inspirations to play for Fiji rather than the All Blacks so his signing doesn’t surprise me.

They are Manawatu players in which case they were probably always behind the 8 ball if it came between them and the Taita College 2nd XVs bench player gunning for the same position. Darren Larsen has his nose to the ground around the traps in Wellington you know!

Even worse, I heard that Armstrong-Ravula once visited Napier on holiday.

@Nepia Ah well then that meant he never had any chance of making it at the Hurricanes.

Maybe you have overlooked it but after the results between two of the teams within the southern North Island in the last few weeks then perhaps justifiably so. Still I am over that, long since having given up on any attachment to the Hurricanes organisation.

@Higgins good, go and support the Highlanders. My I add that's probably one of the slowest responses ever.

Why? I did not know it was compulsory to support a team.

Jeez imagine if Ozzie rugby could afford all these players, but the Oz govt doesn't sponsor them! 😜

Australian funding is part of a soft power effort to re-assert influence in the Pacific. Also includes funding of a rugby league international series in the region.
