Wonder if the Highlanders may opt for a 6-2 split to counteract the fact the game is going to be at midday?

Would be risky, but Gilbert could in theory cover positions 10-15, and the only risk being is if you get two injuries. A risk worth taking?

@frugby Not a silly idea but who would you have on the bench? Assuming you’re going for an extra loosie then it would be Stodart and Broughton? Dont really see the benefit when it’s those 2 coming off the bench. The rate our backs are dropping recently I’d rather have that extra back on the bench who can cover multiple positions. Gilbert and CGB and all positions are covered but I’m guessing Ajay is back on the bench so CGB or Bogardo dropped out of the 22? Possibly Te Hiwi benched for Gilbert? Will be interesting. I’d be happy to see Bogado get a start on the left wing this weekend.

Stodart/Haig probably ends the game at lock... extra mobility, but also if two of the loosies are flagging then you have the option.

Te Hiwi gets another crack for me, because when he actually caught the ball he did carry it well - and it is tough to expect everyone to play like Tim Ryan first game up!

Agree on Bogado, think he is worth a start - and if Gilbert is on the bench, no real need for CGB, so for mine it is either Faleafaga/Millar or an extra loose forward. Could make an argument that Faleafaga's extra threat at the line is ripe for a game like this.

just clicked the game is in tonga and the Highlanders are supposed to be the away team and the jersey clash chart shows us wearing Maroon

    image.png

is there are chance that we wont see the heritage jersey even though theyre showing it.....or even worse we're going to wear it without thinking and have a jersey clash with MP....

Expected side at this point. De Groot on all blacks rest is ridiculous but is what it is.

All eyes on Millar again, can only go up from here! Good to see all positions covered on the bench with Gilbert and Bogado. Would have liked to have seen Ajay get a spot here but going with experience is the right call.

I’m picking Moana in Tonga are going to be like the Drua in Fiji so we are going to have to be on our A game and be super clinical. Definitely a must win with the crusaders coming up next week. Bring it on.

One other thing to note, I see Sanders isn’t ruled out with a head knock anymore and it’s now listed as a quad, the guy can’t catch a break.

Afternoon footy, can’t wait! Up the landers.

How confident are we feeling about tomorrow Landers fans? Score predictions? Any Bold/hot takes?

    Any Bold/hot takes?

Folau Fakatava to clear at least 2 rucks swiftly without standing back watching for absolutely pristine ball.

For that to happen our loose forwards would need to consistently hit rucks...

Our loose forwards not clearing rucks? Yep.

No coincidence that we looked the best at the start of the year, before teams cottoned onto the fact we don't commit numbers to the breakdown. It has been better the past couple of weeks, hence Fakatava's overall improvement.

@frugby Fakatava had probably his worst game for this last week so no idea what you're seeing.

That's why I said overall improvement... despite the team's form, he was very good v the Canes, Rebels and Reds.

He had his worst game for clearing the ball but his clearing the ball improved overall? 100%

Thunderstorms predicted for early afternoon in Nuku’alofa, have a mate over there and he said it’s been pretty bad all week. This could be interesting. As if we needed anything else to impact our handling😅
