My Turn ... Running Down A Dream

@MajorRage When's your next run?
Just finished Rotorua yesterday. 3 hours 47 mins. A bit slower than the Chch marathon I did less than 2 weeks prior where I did that in 3 hours 29 mins, but that was always gonna be the case as you're still in recovery mode from the previous run. Seeing myself getting gassed by the 3 hours 30 pace setters early on was quite funny, as that's usually my normal pace these days. Overall, happy I got to cross the finish line for a 40th time.
Next stop, Selwyn Marathon on King's birthday weekend.

@African-Monkey only a 10k on Monday ….
Have a 20k next weekend but that’s pretty easy now ….
-
@MajorRage Clearly at peak fitness haha. And next race?

You are a marathon machine!

@JK Haha thanks mate. I try to do 5 a year, probably not ideal if you're trying to achieve PBs, but I kinda just enjoy the buzz of running marathons tbh, and after trying hard to get under 3 hrs a few years ago, I've given up on that (for now haha) as it just seemed a step too far.
@MajorRage all the best for that mate, from what I've read it's quite a flat course? Hope you can break that 4 hour barrier!
-
I need to start thinking about doing a marathon before I'm too old.
I did a half when I was 16 and it was a walk in the park (from memory), despite never having run further than 10km at once. I doubt I'd ever beat my time (would need to do 1hr30hr or below to do so) so not that keen to try bust a gut to do so and just not enjoy the run. A full marathon would be totally a different beast, more like a fight for survival, so wouldnt be too worried re time.
-
@JK Gee that's a good time haha, that would be very difficult to beat on a good day.
Regarding a marathon, just go for it mate, there's no failure in running once you cross the finish line. Just don't let it become an addiction like I have haha, save your knees!

Didn’t get my 4 hours.
Had a nasty cough and the course was soaked. Feet are in pieces.
Had a whole bunch of targets and I didn’t get any of them.
Hang on. I missed out a word originally.
Didn’t just get my 4 hours.
Obliterated it.
3:50:09.
Smashed it, what an effort! Obviously wanted to get it over and done with quickly with that rain!
