I’ve got a very sleek, near 3m oak and metal frame dining table which is my pride and joy. It’s uncovered most of the time so people can appreciate the wood., which I enjoy oiling a couple of times a year. I don’t mind people using it, provided there are placemats/coasters down. I will string up anyone who puts a glass etc directly on it. With parties I have a clear plastic cover over it to offset spillages etc.
I think that's a great way to do it. I'd be happy to cover it with a cloth, but at least let us appreciate the beauty every now and again.

Ok I grumpy again!! Just finished before watching Taranaki/Manawatu NPC game, good part was game has just finished, I left room and bad part is my TV has died. Mrs said it made a quiet noise and picture went. Obvioulsy picture tube , I think I had it for 9-10 years ,so days were up I guess? Anyway any suggestions on 55in smart tvs fellas? This one was a Sony Bravia, and liked it etc and don't really feel the need for anything to flash. We watch tv ,stream a few movies etc is about all!

I had a girlfriend on a party line in the early 90s, was much easier to talk with her when she was at boarding school than on that bloody shared line.
What was weird was that the area she was in is actually so close to the urban areas in HB.
