Battle of the Bays

Well the path is clear now (having consulted my abacus). Win with a bonus point today and we're into the semi-finals - unless Harbour gets 2 points in their game against Northland and then it will be a 3-way tie and I'm not digging that far into the rules. A bonus point win means we finish level on points with Manawatu but above them as we beat them head to head.
Win without bonus point and we need Northland to stop Harbour getting any points at all. Lose and we're goneburger.
Good to see Joe Tupe back and Chase Tiatia on the bench.

well our coach has again made more consistent (due to inconsistancy) selections so I am fence sitting on my previous prediction that NH will lose...sorry lads
We have the personal get 5 points and deny them any, but all depends on our start.

Yay !! A pretty deserving win. Its nice to know we can win when there is still so much to improve on. I'm rapt !!

Deserving? That ref is likely getting a dress and a casual watch in his Xmas stocking this year.
Nah, congratulations on the win - enjoy your 12 months as the Bay.

Was nervous at half-time as our defensive line was breached every time Hawke's held onto the ball. Luckily they gave a lot of ball away. We dominated in the setpieces and eventually turned the domination into points. Disallowed try was a shocking call but ref made up for it with a harsh penalty try call.

I thought that try we had overturned was pretty dubious. He barely touched him, would have expected that sort of acting from the Wellington Phoenix. We were lucky to hang on in the end, but we were definitely the more dominant of the two teams for most of the match, but a bit concerning was how we let Hawkes back into it towards the end.
Kinda seems a little unjust that you can make the semis with a 3 and 7 record. but I'll take it!

Yeah win 1 of the first 8, lose the 2 must win games against Southland and Harbour and still sneak in - what baffled me was them desperate for 4 tries so early in the game - we'd managed it in almost every game this season, why the stress and turning down points? Almost bit us in the end.
