Deep Creek Haiku Double Hazy IPA
I do like that beer, but I am such a light weight now that I really prefer much lower strength. At least that way I can have more than 2 or 3 in an evening! But good for a one off
-
@RoninWC Im trying to get Sensei but it's not anywhere on the GC. My goto beer is DC Brewtiful Haze. I like Good George too but it's hard to get anything other than their IPA here.
Parrot Dog beers are showing up but it's just the base range. Really want some Keith but again no one stocks it.
-
@raznomore how good is the Brewtiful Haze, I absolutely love it and will pick it up every time I see it. It was the beer that got me onto DC and was the first of their beers readily available in Sydney, funnily enough, at the local First Choice Liquor. Now First Choice has most of the lineup available and Dan Murphy's is stocking more of the DC range as well.
The Sensei is also a great beer, worth getting a hold of it if you can. If you can't find locally, what I do suggest is looking online and ordering from something like Boozebud or the Beer Cartel. I've ordered beers from both and every time they have arrived in perfect condition.
I get email notifications from both so if I see it available, I'll PM you.

@RoninWC First Choice is exactly where I go. If you like the hazys and want to give a local beer a go Feral Biggie Juice is actually very good. Feral make some mass-produced shit but Biggie Juice is great.
Would love the heads up too!

Yup, love Biggie and even better, the Imperial Biggie. Most of the Feral range is pretty shite really but I love both those.
A great example, Feral Hop Hog is on tap right now at the Rag and Famish hotel here in North Sydney and I had a pint the other day and walked away from the last third it was that disappointing. Watery, lacked any real mouth feel and just disappointing.
On the other hand, the Rag has had several times this past year both the Biggie and Imperial Biggie juices on tap at the same time. Going from the Biggie to the Imperial is an awesome journey.
Over the past couple of years, I've really gotten into the Hazy's and the NEIPA's and I try to get my hands on any one I possibly can.
It's also great that Parrot Dog beers are becoming more readily available. My mate recently got the Parrot Dog Hazy IPA from the St. Ives Vintage Cellars. He drank that along side the Balter Hazy DC and said the Parrot Dog was better so I'm trying to track it down local to me.

on christmas day i got drunk as a lord on vodka, Schweppes blood orange, and lime.
-
@mariner4life congrats you've graduated from bogan to eshay

-
@mariner4life haha I just googled it too, not sure 'graduated' is the right word!!
Teenage Australian chav/gangsta wannabe asswipe. Known for smoking, drinking, stealing, stinking and unprovoked attacks called “staunching”. Can usually be frightened away by a large stick or adult with a loud voice. Comes from the pig-latin term “Sesh” -> Esh-shay.
-
@mariner4life on the net I see it says "young gangsta asswipes" which isn't wrong but certainly not limited to.
My daughter is an adult now and from what I can see she is a fairly sophisticated and switched on young lady. She tells me Eshays will buy expensive grey goose vodka and drink with lift, Schweppes raspberry, and Fanta. They can be old or young but will usually have a pair of Nike Tiens in their wardrobe.
Do you have bikie nikes?

M4L, a favourite of yours or just the fact that I walked away from a beer unfinished?
Tell you what I don't do that often, leave a beer unfinished, but it was so disappointing I just couldn't do it. Can probably count the number of times I've walked away from a beer unfinished on one hand but those I have have been either very ordinary like the Hop Hog or like a Oyster Stout a mate and I had at Dainton that made us both nearly throw up it was just so foul.

@mariner4life said in Beer thread:
@RoninWC i love Hop Hog. Not a session beer though.
Fair enough, everyone has different tastes.
I myself find Hop Hog one of the most bland boring IPA's out there. But the other two Feral's, the Biggie and Imperial Biggie, are freakin awesome and you may not like those at all.
-
@mariner4life have you had many NZ IPAs? Coz I reckon if you drink a lot of Aussie craft beer then Hop Hog is probs all good. Im not a fan of US IPA mostly am ok with Aussie but becuase I started on NZ IPA thats my preference. They are dank and fruity...like me...nah but I like the more tropical flavour and that Biggie Juice tastes closer to NZ beers. Hop Hog was average the one time I drank it and spat it out..
-
I like em sour. James Squire Hop Thief is a favourite as well.
But it's too hot for that heavy shit now.
So my go to is Wild Yak. By the carton load. Pump it over summer.

@raznomore what do you think of some of the Sydney breweries?
BTW, not sure if you are based out of Queensland or NSW, you mentioned earlier in the thread the Gold Coast but then also mentioned Manly?
Have you had the opportunity to try the Marrickville breweries:
Sauce, Batch, Grifter and Willie the Boatman being the core then there is Wildflower, apparently brilliant beers but hardly ever open and Blackfont, the newest, both of which I haven't visited yet or even tried their beers.Love Sauce and Willie's. Batch is a bit hit and miss, with very "grunge" styling and feel to me. Grifter is good with other beers on tap, not just their own but a bit too polished and a polar opposite to Batch.
Then there is the one that is close but not in Marrickville which really started it all in Sydney and is arguably the most successful, Young Henry's. Really liked it when it first opened but I find their beers haven't grown with the rest of the industry. For example, they haven't yet put out a Hazy or NEIPA.
My favourite Sydney brewery and probably overall favourite Aussie brewery over all is Akasha. Absolutely brilliant beers and also a great place to visit.
Have you had a chance to try Akasha yet?
