@nepia did we at least get the better player of the two?

I'm not sure - I think the Oz one is probably a bit more highly rated (Penrith fans might know) - I think he's only 17 still. But I think they're both pretty highly rated.

Usually the younger ones are rated higher but Jayden Nikorima and Lloyd Perrett don't look like they'll be too big a loss, so who knows.

@nepia, as in nothing noteworthy about it (cronk playing) or it just wasn't needed? Actually on retrospect I guess he was on the field but barely played. Maybe I'd be more warranted if Cronk had played a more active role in spite of injury.

As it he doesn't have to acknowledge him because he played injured - he's an opposition player who probably played when he shouldn't, it's not Smith's job to praise Cronk about that. FYI - I'm no big fan of Smith.

@Sneakdefreak Good pack as usual (with question marks around only one young hooker), decent outside backs and looking dicey in the halves again where Nikorima could be pulled into hooker and Hughes getting big raps from some quarters but as a half was superseded by Croft for Melbourne.

Did Harris get injured again? I can't remember.

Any players you think undeservedly missed out?

Surprised that Te Maire Martin wasn't added to the squad. DWZ/Martin/Johnson/Nikorima would be the best spine (keeping in mind that Tuivasa-Sheck is out and Luke has basically retired from the Kiwis).

@jegga No loss. Should've happened a long time ago.

Yep, if we've got a half available then we may as well play him. We don't require our 2nd row to be in great form (Proctor) so why the halves?

Also, don't complain about a lack of experience with players out and then not pick a really experienced player in position we have little depth in (Benji). I thought a new Aussie coach would be above that sort of double speak and shenanigans.

Re: The Footy Show, I went to the live taping of the Grand Final show last year (cheered loudly for Taumalolo before he became Judas) as I was given free tickets. Hadn't seen the show in years. Some of the clips they showed were funny but that's probably because I hadn't seen the show (and that humour) in years.

It was utter gold in its heyday though. An 'enhanced' Matty johns made some great stuff 😎, and the rest of the older school crew were good too. But the last 5-10 years, not so much.

You advocating him for stand off? 😉

    Also, no idea.

    🤭

Nope, but his utility value would be useful in a squad.

Nope, but his utility value would be useful in a squad.

If not injured, his defensive woes this year may have ruined his chances at Kiwis selection.

Not an issue for SJ obviously.

So what is the best 17? @Sneakdefreak

Hahaha. Actually, SJ's defence has actually improved out of sight in the last few years - the call of princess is now for a lack of taking the ball to the line.

    I would go:
1 Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (Penrith Panthers) 2. Jordan Rapana (Canberra Raiders) 3. Esan Marsters (Wests Tigers) 4. Joseph Manu (Sydney Roosters) 5. Jamayne Isaako (Brisbane Broncos) 6. Jahrome Hughes (Melbourne Storm) 7. Shaun Johnson (NZ Warriors) 8. Adam Blair (NZ Warriors) 9. Kodi Nikorima (Brisbane Broncos) 10. Jesse Bromwich (Melbourne Storm) 11. James Fisher-Harris (Penrith Panthers) 12. Corey Harawira-Naera (Penrith Panthers) 13. Joseph Tapine (Canberra Raiders)
Bench: 14. Brandon Smith (Melbourne Storm) 15. Issac Liu (Sydney Roosters) 16. Martin Tapau (Manly Sea Eagles) 17. Leeson Ah Mau (St George Illawarra Dragons)

@paekakboyz Gives the Warriors one more year to prepare either Nathaniel Roache or Karl Lawton for the role too.
