There was an earlier American Idol contestant, Crystal Bowersox, who I thought was fantastic at Joplin. I bought her first album and it sucked major shit.
I don’t think I ever heard of her , probably for the best .

first couple of listenings of Tool's new album, and in all reality it is a collection or riffs, ideas and sounds from their last 2 albums. With it on the the background you can almost break in to singing the part form the existing song you are sure is coming next.
The one song i did like first time through then goes on for 12 fucking minutes! As do all the actual songs on the album.
I'm sure it's great on drugs.

7.29I regularly listen to precisely one song of theirs in excess of 8 minutes. I reckon i am going to battle with an album full of songs that go from 10-15 minutes long.

Worked from home today so did some good listening.
Fear Innoculum is going to be a massive grower. There is no clear Anema, Jambi, Sober to grab you by the nuts and make you yell FUCK YEAH, but it’s bloody good.
Also listened to Mellon Collie from start to finish. God there is some good songs on there. But there is just far far too much shit. That album should be 50 mins max.

First bit, yep, i think you might be right. It's grown on me, but at the moment it's a background album for me. I am sure it's very clever, and very technical (some of the playing is pretty sick) but i'm busy, i need those FUCK YEAH moments
2nd, i told you! In the main, that album is fucking genius. If you strip it down to 15 songs-ish it's damn near perfect. Double albums rarely work.
