@NTA the crazy one yesterday was the tip tackle on Ruby Tui.
Was clumsy more than reckless or intentional but the ref went down the most bizarre path saying that the tackler “pulled out of it” which supposedly made things better rather than the tackler not taking responsibility to get the player safely to the ground.
Lifted over the shoulder, spun and dropped from height but somehow the tackler wasn’t really at fault?

So, in short, they've changed the rules because it's a world cup...?

@Crucial Saw that tackle on Tui. Couldn't believe the ref though it was a low level of danger. That should have been a red. Compare that to Retallick's and you are in WTF territory.

Not the rules but certainly seem to be reluctant to use RCs.
I can understand that maybe there’s a feeling to be careful that you get it right as the impact of a red can be bigger in a tournament, but careful seems to tip toward “light” at times.
It isn’t so much the YCs that are puzzling it is the logic being explained.

    Bang on.
I’m feeling a bit ill having to agree with Reason but he seems to be taking a different approach himself to this RWC than he does with the ABs

OPINION: The leniency around dangerous play over the previous month at this Rugby World Cup has been scandalous, writes Mark Reason.

Bit dumb from an England coach to make comments like this. Bound to be read by the players and although it probably wont effect the outcome of this particular game, why highlight a 'concern' and plant a seed in the players minds?
Is this a teeny tiny pressure crack?

I hope GSOH refers to Good Sense of Humour not Great Set of Honkers.

    Some stats for the tournament.

    These stuck out for me:

The Black Ferns made 91 offloads; France was second with 75. England registered 33 times.
First-five and captain Ruahei Demant made 64 runs and 18 offloads in the tournament.
England missed 36 tackles to 13 in the final.
