Well, they are certainly not resting players in preparation for the semis or taking Southland lightly.
Interestingly, according to "The Plenty of Steam podcast", Ravouvou, Matenga, Judd and Fuatai will be available for the semis which is good. Mua, Forbes, Webber, Trask, Lalomilo, Polwart, Campbell and Mchugh don't get a mention so I assume are out for the season even though some look okay in the latest Instagram posts.
I understand the location of the semi will be decided after the completion of the weekend games....either late in the day on Saturday or under lights in Rotorua on The Friday.

Is Matenga injured? He seemed to be going really well at Number 8

He went off injured on Saturday - he was a founder member of Six60 you know!
-
@Snollygoster I listened to it last night - it's really good and shows that other provinces could do - and the Mitre10 Cup could have its own podcast if they got the right people to do it.
-
It's looking a bit wet in Invercargill. :rain_cloud:
-
Great try from Karpik. You could see that one coming; had way too much space.
Took BOP 25 minutes to score.
-
Now a try to Southland. Running forwards ....
5 all
-
Try Pleasants-Tate in the corner!
Southland go into the break with the lead!
HT: Southland 12 - 5 BOP
-
The sort of game that we always manage to make hard work of....
-
That's better.
-
is anything good happening in this game? an absolute shitstorm , my eyes are hurt
-
Hands like feet at the wrong times tonight.
-
15 - 12 to the Bay. 0/3 off the kicking tee.
-
great way to prepare semifinals for bop .
-
MMac you cheat!
A thoroughly deserved yellow card.
-
Stupid from Mmac. Expect BOP to run away with it soon.
-
Excellent!! That's why they subbed Tom Franklin on...
-
This time the domiant scrum gets the penalty.
-
And finally some commonsence. The red player jumped into that and deserved all he got. Should barely a penalty in my books. Well done referee although you will probably get a lot of crosses against your named from those white coated clip board holding assessors!
-
Was at quiz night and sounds like it was a good game to miss. On the bright side we won the quiz.
Name 10 All Blacks to play 90 or more matches. (Tests and non-tests). I got 10 and I'm sure you will too!
-
What a messy performance but hopefully the kick in the pants they need before the semis. Will be interesting to see if Rotorua or Tauranga get the Semi. I'm hoping we get Manawatu instead of Taranaki but after last night a win against either is not a guarantee.
-
How has Alaimalo being playing? I only saw some of Southland's first game against Northland and haven't seen them since.
-
@Bovidae Looked very good, last night. Strong lad, fast (for a forward) and excellent work rate. Promising. Definitely, someone to keep an eye on.
-
@Stargazer I note he was moved to no.8 for the recent games.
I hope Charles stays in the Waikato/Chiefs system and ironically he would have probably got an opportunity with Waikato with the injury to Seu and unavailability of Jacobson. A year of playing M10 Cup will be good for his development.
-
@Bovidae I'm sure he'll jump at the opportunity to come to Waikato if offered as his brother is fully based in The Tron.
-
I feel that Alaimalo is a bit lightweight at this stage of his career. He could probably do with another year on loan at Southland. Needs to bulk up imo.

Not in order:
McCaw, Mealamu, Franks, Woodcock, S Whitelock, Muliaina, Read, Nonu, C Smith, Carter. All centurions I think? Maybe not Conrad....
Good pub question.
-
@Snowy all post-2000, too. Shows how many tests we play - Sir Colin was an absolute dead set legend for playing almost a third of what McCaw did.
The stature of McCaw grows the longer he's away from the game, too. To see that many tests in that physical position is remarkable

It says matches so plenty of players from the amateur era played over 90 games too. Meads, for example, played 133 games in total. That would be a better quiz question to ask for players pre-2000.
-
@Bovidae Yeah. Tend to forget how many non tests were played in the good ol' days of tours.
-
Yep if you pick any of the older players who played 50 tests you'd be fairly safe
