"Due to Covid"
Corporate talk for "cost cutting".
@nepia said in Coronavirus - Australia:
they only allow you to go in outbound and not inbound like normal.
Have I misinterpreted that? That's normal for Virgin? Most airlines only allow you into the lounge with a boarding pass for an upcoming outbound flight (along with transit of course which is still outbound).
Otherwise see the above re cost cutting.

Also, in first world problems, the Virgin lounges suck balls at the moment. "Due to Covid" they only have cereal and muffins for breakfast. And they only allow you to go in outbound and not inbound like normal.
Hmmm, maybe I should have posted this in the grumpy old man thread.
Ah ya poor fluffybunny

Virgin have always allowed it domestically. I usually stop in for a coffee at Melbourne before heading into the city. I used to to do it at Gold Coast airport for lunch when I was travelling up there for work.

@nepia Not surprised that they stopped that then, bloody freeloaders every where... had I known they would have stopped it earlier.
I will try and go to drink the bar dry at ANZ ZQN lounge next week on arrival (fully expecting to be told to fuck off).

Hey, it's one of things that stops me fucking off to Qantas.

Phase 1B.
Am apparently eligible (as I've mentioned ad nauseum ... underlying health).
Went on the Govt eligibility checker which confirmed, and then directed me to the two local vaccine clinics.
No available appointments. Am not sure how far on advance they're booking though.
According to the list elsewhere on the site there are six locally. But only two came up on the booking system.
Not trying desparately hard to get a jab, yet, but now am eligible I may as well.
-
Booked my jab for tomorrow.
Did the eligibility checker thing again which this time showed all 6 local clinics. Chose the one next to work. Rang (they didn't do on line bookings) and tried to make a booking with the rather abrupt admin.
Had to get a health summary from my GP, and fill out a new patient form, neither of which was hard.
Worst part was dealing with the deceptionists. As long as the doc or nursie stick the right stuff in my arm, and the astra zenecas as expected it's all good.
-
Bit of a reaction overnight.
Arm is quite bruised. Probably as much to do with sleeping on that side, then getting all twisted up trying to avoid pressing against it.
Woke up about 1.30 with headache and bit of a fever (You know the too hot and too cold at the same time thing). Had to get a blanket! In March! In QLD! And pretty much stayed awake.
Somewhat improving into the morning, but hey "flu like symptoms" = day off for booboo.

@scribe I went to a hub too and I was really impressed with how it was being managed. The flow of people allowed in was strictly controlled but they were still getting the numbers through. When I got through the registration process ( couple of minutes at most) and got in to the main hall, there was a queue of around 30 people waiting to go into 8 vax stations. Five minutes of queuing and I was done. All the time I was there the queue remained about the same number, emphasising the control factor.
All round very impressive.
Quoting this from the UK thread to compare.
So in Aus vax is given at GP clinics.
There's a bit of bureaucracy: had to go on line and fill out a new patient form for the clinic, get the health summary from my GP to confirm eligibility for Phase 1B, go wait in the waiting room and fill out a four page consent form, go through the questionnaire again with the nurse, then get jabbed. I'm thinking they were only getting through about one person per 5 mins.
So it's no wonder that Aus has only jabbed about 280,000 people, when the aim is 200,000 per day.
Having said that, I am assuming there is still limited supply until CSL comes on line.

So thoughts on an appropriate punishment for the Brisbane chap who was tested for Covid as a close contact of a positive case, then threw a party for 25 of his besties while waiting for his result and subsequently tested positive himself?
Broncos season pass?

Seems it was 'only 5 not 25.
Not sure what alien has stolen Anastasia's body. I'm shocked Brisbane isn't in full lockdown. Doesn't she care that we'll all die?

Appears Queensland Health announced the 25 people and D'Ath is now scrambling to defend her department.
