They interview well, and the team was originally created as a training team for Barry Darsow (Smash) as he was quite new, so was teamed with Ax to learn the industry (these types of teams were quite common in wrestling). Amazing how things turn out sometimes.
Darsow, The Road Warriors and Rick Rude all worked as bouncers in the same club. Apparently of all that bunch Rude was the toughest and loosest cannon.

I actually read up on him quite a bit over lockdown. Seems a bit of contradictory stuff out there. I heard that story of course but then there were others about how he was a really kind bloke and religious. Not quite sure which is true.
Definitely tough though, that is never disputed but the wife story makes him sound like a bit of a cock.

I figured he probably actually did get into legal trouble a few times, but the US system is so fragmented, Vince's lawyers managed to argue it down to misdemeanours and fines, perhaps with the occasional 30 days in the county jail rather than state prison. With the taping schedules of the time, it wouldn't have even been that noticeable. Also, self defence is a much stronger defence there than here, and basically all accounts of brawls are that someone else started them, and he just finished them in various violent ways.
Vince managed to keep Snuka out of prison after all.

So apparently WWE has licensed all network content to Peacock (NBC's streaming service). This only applies in the USA, and international subscribers should continue as before. $4.99/mo with ads or $9.99 without, so it's a sweet deal for Americans. Supposedly WWE pockets $1 billion for 5 years.

I do, but only PPVs, not the weekly stuff so much. NXT was great for a period, but isn't my cup of tea currently. Royal Rumble is the next PPV, so I'm sure that will be fun.

This... every 3 or 4 months, on a weekend, sitting at home feeling particularly stupid/hungover - I'll download every PPV since the last one I saw, and waste a few hours. Often skipping through most of the shit actual wrestling.
I fucking love me a Royal Rumble... even if you can pretty much write the script yourself ahead of time.
- Gimmicky old character makes an appearance... who's it gonna be this year? The irish dwarf? Some old guy? The italian guy with the sock puppet?
- Some big/power player comes in, cleans the ring, dominates for a while
- Somebody eliminates somebody else, who throws a tantrum, and eliminates the first guy from outside the ring... creating a brand-new feud
- Tag-team partners work as a team, until finally one eliminates the other from behind
- Kofi Kingston makes some ridiculous move to save himself from being eliminated, probably jumping from the ringside barrier back onto the ring

It was bloody good in 1989 when Demoliton drew numbers 1 and 2 and had a battle, they then teamed up on Andre the Giant who was 3 !!

I caught an episode of smackdown or raw over the break when I just came across it on tv one night. Still find it odd with no crowds but there seems to be more special effects etc now. The show had Triple H fighting Randy Orton which I was quite looking forward to but some stupid shit went down... Triple H got out a sledge hammer from under the ring, the lights all went out and then the sledgey was on fire. Then some random emo looking chick came in and shot something from her hands into Randy's eyes and he was farked and the show finished. Was all rather odd!

Yeah - with the no-crowds thing, they've taken the opportunity to take the bullshit-level to another... well, level.
I suspect the sledgey-on-fire thing is a remnant of the last PPV, where the final match was a "whoever sets the other guy on fire, wins". Fucking ridiculous. But, fair play, with the lack of crowds - they were able to do something where it really did look like he sprayed petrol all over the other guy, and his entire body was on fire.
Brings a whole new emphasis to the classic...- Kids, do not try this at home.
Undertaker fought a "bury the other guy alive" match a while back, in a farm yard, including throwing each other off barn roof, etc.
The antics of the "comic relief" level people... fuck. Just, cringeworthy... and that's with a starting point of "I'm watching professional wrestling". -

@jk I mostly watch AEW these days - only the PPV events for WWE. Christian turned up at the Royal Rumble last month.
IMO, AEW has the better wrestlers (Rey Fenix, Orange Cassidy, Hangman Page, Sammy Guevera etc) plus better matches/storylines. They are way more innovative too. WWE's innovation seems to be limited to bringing back Goldberg...
There is an awesome womans elimination tournament underway in AEW. The first round of the Japanese half of that is available on AEW's YouTube page. Some amazing wrestling. Maki Itoh is incredible
