    Anyone here into recording their own tunes? I just bought the lad a Steinberg UR22C so he can record guitar and vocals.

    Having an absolute disaster with the software side.

    Tried the supposedly included free Cubase and Wavelab, then reverted to buying the shop-recommended Avid Pro Tools. Still haven't managed to download it and get started after about an hour of fucking around. Website accepted my cash just fine though

    Anyone used Pro Tools before? If not, anyone got any good recommendations for better software? Not so much for electronic music (which I understand Ableton is the #1 for), but for an easy to operate recording setup for vocals and guitar.

    My experience in this is laying down a bunch of bass grooves in a barely adequate fashion then letting some producer work his magic to try and make it sound good. I am on a FB page called "NZ Guitarists/Bassists" though, and there is loads of chat about this sort of stuff. Maybe he could join that ?

    The Boy had Garage Band for his Macbook. Given that a shot? He successfully coordinated one of the Dwarf songs from The Hobbit using himself as 5 bass vocal parts + 1 guitar...

    He's got student access to the full Adobe Suite now of course, so is doing his music, stage production, and multimedia with that.

    Haven't tried recording to it. He messed around with it years ago on ipad, haven't had a go since he has started getting serious.
