Have they streamed stuff before? Anyone used it? Don't suppose there's a google tv app or it can cast?

I admire your honesty. Don’t think you can purchase the super rugby stuff just yet.
Yeah - I've used RugbyPass for a few years now - originally, when I was based in the UK, but using VPN.
Their geo-blocking stuff is a bit shite at times - can seem random as to when it will allow you to login. And I got an email from them a few years ago, saying that my credit card address was a UK one, so they suspected me of using a VPN and watching illegally. I just claimed ignorance, stated that I had a residence in the UK but was spending a lot of time in Singapore/Malaysia working - and my work had some weird thing sometimes where I had to logon to a "VPN" to do work while I was trying to watch the rugby on my work laptop... "would that explain any weirdness you see at your end?"I seem to recall when I first signed-up... their geoblocking wouldn't even let me create an account - right until the minute a competition they were showing actually started.
I suspect that's the case here... they'll be showing a subset of the games they have rights for in the UK... but haven't updated their geo-blocking rules yet... or haven't figured out yet how to allow a subset of their content. -
@billy-tell it's less than 36 hours away.

@kruse Chur bro.
I won't be paying 40 squid a month for something I can only access the minute it's being broadcast. Finding alternative broadcasts sounds like it will be at least as reliable...
Once it's up and running - it's not bad. I've had issues with the quality of the stream at times - but that was probably largely in part due to me needing to use a VPN, and in pre-fibre times.
Can watch live, or on-demand. BUT - be damned careful with the on-demand, or starting to watch it delayed... a couple of times I've started watching it, and as it tries to buffer the start of the broadcast, it actually shows the current, or last, screen-shot/frame of the broadcast. Fucking spoiler-alert much?
I don't remember it being 40 quid a month... I thought it was much cheaper, more like 60/year. Shit - I'm still paying for it now, instead of getting Sky or anything else. -
Good to know there is an option but I am increasingly frustrated by the number of different subscriptions required to watch the things you want. It is getting ridiculous.
Also annoys me when these things are made more difficult by being only through apple tv or connecting a laptop.
For years I have enjoyed just flicking on sky at breakfast and watching what I can with the kids demanding attention so not being able to dedicate time like i might have when younger.
Now I have to figure out if I can be bothered to "set it up" and pay specifically for it when I know it is going to be interrupted watching and the stream might be shit.
Not sure what I will do but pretty sure sky sports is getting flicked off once the Americas cup is done as they are pointless nowadays mostly.
They have a dedicated cricket channel and yet none of the live cricket such as the last NZ series. Was frustrating seeing a whole channel of wall to wall 20 year old highlights when a test series I actually wanted to watch was not available.
Anyway, that turned a bit rant like..
Good to have an option, haven't figured out if I will take it up yet which is sad as I will miss watching

@davesofthunder yeah much the same, I like to have it on kind of in the background while I glance sideways at work. Pause to go do a quick shit. Not have to fuck about opening an app on my phone then making sure it's casting ok.
I guess I can take it shitting with me but that sounds very stressful.
-
@davesofthunder Yeah I am with you. Whats the point of sky now? They pretty much so focus on football and F1, but you can get a lot of that across the other channels. All the 6N is on free to air, BT sport has as much football these days and also has the UFC so what's the point of sky?
Reality is that if they pick up some All Black games, then that will suck. But you can get a month pass through now tv for not much , so that option is there. Masters coverage is also pivotal. And as that starts around the the last month of the EPL, that is a worthwhile purchase.
4pm Sunday kick off will always be one of the great things about UK life, however now that's at home with the wife and kids, it's not as good as at the pub with mates ....
