Czech Republic and England are in the 16 next now too

England OR CR are through I imagine as they only have to play each other but not both just yet surely.

I thought they just said both were through during the telecast. England definitely guaranteed to go through

Sorry I thought it was only top 2 going through. I forgot about some of the 3rd places.

    @kiwimurph

I saw somewhere that after 71% of the games are played, only 31% of the teams are eliminated. As a neutral I love the drama of playoffs but it feels a bit stupid when most of the 3rd place teams make it through.

@cyclops reminds me a bit of that Cricket World Cup a few cycles back where after pool play there was whole other round of games (2 groups of 5 or something?) where very few teams got eliminated.

Not even sentimental favourites given Denmark are now the people's team. While Finland were holding Belgium, a quarter-final with Finland must have looked enticing.

Billy Gilmour has tested positive for Covid-19 so has to self-isolate for 10 days. A big blow for the Jocks.

Mason Mount and Ben Chiswell, his Chelsea team mates paying for England, hugged him on the field whistle so it's self-isolation for them too.

What about all the Scottish players he's been in a bubble with for the whole tournament? Or are they too manly so didn't do any hugging?

@kiwipie If they've been staying 2 metres away and their Covid tests keep coming back as negative then under Public Health England rules they are fine.

Fair point given Scotland haven't scored a goal yet in order to avoid hugging

They haven't said. He is also asymptomatic, but obviously this was picked up with their regular testing.

Is there any more hype than an English soccer team in a tournament? ITV coverage - Gary Neville with his wing-gers. Roy Keane, it’s grand boy. Ripe for a last 16 knockout.

I don't understand the second sentence.

Only thing more hyped would be an English soccer team before a tournament though.

Holy shit it's ridiculous eh. Someone I usually consider level headed was losing their shit on FB the other about how Southgate"s hatred of Grealish is going to cost him.

Fuuucking hell, all he's done is not start him and it's hatred.

.... and now he's off. Czech defender blatantly pushes Maguire to the ground in the box and..... nothing. From the ref or VAR. They need to win to stay at Wembley, they really need a second goal to ease the nerves.

Big wraps on Jadon Sancho. But what does he have to do to get a game?
