Seriously? Damn, everyone I knew had a copy of The Real Thing when it came out. I thought it would have sold over 5m on it's own.
The inter-web, (which is never wrong) says The Real Thing sold 7,500 copies in NZ & just under 1.3M globally - 1M in the USA

There's been 1600 odd weeks since it's release so it has averaged over 20K of sales every week. Obviously, the majority at first release but that makes your stat quite believable - and unbelievable at the same time.Pffft, the interweb also tells me there’s loads of hot single mums in my area just dying to meet me.

What does this even mean these days, to shift a unit? My son listens to music all day every day, and he’s never spent a cent on it - do the recent numbers take into account Spotify plays or something?
