Not sure what’s with all the blue on the Hurricanes jersey, looking like Otago. Would be better if the stripes and logo were black.
The original Jersey had blue and black. Weird that it's only blue now. But it's just on the stripes anyway. Pretty unremarkable design
Looks like the spent all their time…too much time designing the others, I think blues, saders and chiefs could do with a Little less and the landers and canes a little more
I preferred the jerseys with other colours added in. Total lack of imagination, probably suits the organisation right now

some are out on the EU adidas site, maroon is back!
my least fav chiefs one for a long time, normal i really like what they do
I zoomed in on those photos online.
That Highlanders home jersey seems to have a similar pattern to the maroon away jersey. The Crusaders away jersey also has a subtle pattern in the white, which you can harldy see on the photos that have been posted.
The Blues away jersey seems to continue with the broken glass theme from this year's jerseys, although a bit more symmetrical.
I'd like the Canes jersey more, if the blue in the logos was replaced by Manawatū green, and the stripes on the shoulders were black instead of blue and white instead of yellow.

Funny how these Canterbury teams have suddenly realised that they have half a big mountain in the bottom corner of their province instead of pointing at the knights on horseback riding the plains.
(OK all of a big mountain for Crusaders as they lay claim to Westland as well. -

That is easily the ugliest Chief's jersey (both versions) in 20 years.
I was hoping for a "less is more" approach to the new design but no fuckin' chance.
The Highlanders jerseys are the best of the lot.
I’m happy in a safe way, haven’t done anything mad on it…but it would be cool to get a little more, yellow and maroon stripes on the cuff and hem or something, or in and have tartan arms, the highlanders have an offical tartan, designed and registered in Scotland and everything…that we never use

A team name not related to anything from the area. Kinda the point of the quip

It's no less relevant than the Highlanders given a Highlander is Scottish imagery, used due to Dunedin's heritage. Likewise Christchurch was designed as an English city and the Crusades (as ugly as they were) emanated in England. I'm pleased we're not called the Plainsmen or Alpsmen
When was the last time Wellington experienced an actual Hurricane?

You need to read about more history about the crusades, the English didn't turn up until the 'second' crusades (which was about the actual 6th!)

@machpants yes, didn’t want til his to be detailed but I though generally popes called for crusaders
And the difference between the highlanders and crusaders, highlanders are quite literally those living in the highlands, represent by a generic warrior on our logo, crusaders are something quite specific, Knights would be a more generic name they could have gone for

@shark literally the windiest major city on the planet
And the Wahine disaster in '68 was a pretty notable hurricane event.
If that's the best rationale for the team naming then suddenly Crusaders doesn't seem too bad.

Does Crusaders have any sort of link to Christchurch other than the fact it starts with a C? At the end of the day, at least they tried. The least imaginative team name has to be the Blues

I thought the connection was fairly easy to figure out. The place is called Christ+Church.

See the Crusaders reference above. At the end of the day most team names have fine links to the areas they live in because the name still has to sound catchy. Crusaders, Hurricanes, Highlanders, Chiefs all have an obvious enough link to me. It was a silly argument in the first place
