      And we are under way

Perth will not die. They've had two easy home ones over two trash sides.

The Taipans fucking suck, will win the spoon, and are in serious danger of being kicked out of the comp. Again. It's the never ending circle of Taipans basketball, have one good season, raise expectations, fall in a complete heap for the next 6 year. This Club is too poor to compete, but compounds that with awful awful roster decisions like keeping an absolute spud like Jarrod Kenny, and letting Tad Dufelmier walk to Adelaide (i remember when we let this guy called Nathan Sobey walk for nothing because the coach would never play him either).

It could be a long year for the Breakers too if they are forced to be on the road for the whole season.

@mariner4life based on your Breakers comment I assume we got smoked by Sth Melbourne?

yes. Although SE Melbourne will be one side who thinks they can win the lot this year, so it's not the worst result

There were some wide margins on the first weekend.

I watched the 1st Q and a bit of the Breakers game. They looked like a team who had a compromised preseason and were missing some key players and their coach - which they were. They play the Phoenix again next so hopefully a big improvement.

I really only watch Breakers games, and usually only if they start at a decent NZT. I'm not interested enough in watching an evening game from Perth with the time difference.

From what I saw of the Breakers they were getting killed on the boards and were soft on defence in the paint, so Wetzell was a big loss. Shooting will improve by playing.

@bovidae we lacked leadership out there too with no Abercrombie. Finn seemed to get caught up in his match up with Mitch Creek. Our backcourt will take some time to gel.

Perth with Cotton, Law and Travers look like the league’s best ‘big 3’. Add to that decent role players that aren’t demanding the ball.

We put a pretty good fight last night. First quarter was terrible. Our matador defence gave up 35 points. Our scoring wasn’t too bad, but we were letting very easy baskets.

We did awesome to get back into it and got a lead, Basson was on fire in the 4th and Yanni looked like a bucket inside no matter who was guarding him. But again we lapsed on D and gave them a couple of open shots. Was an entertaining game at least unlike last weeks shocker.
