Australia v England - 2nd Test

Neat jersey.
-
Yeah nice. Is Cadbury an indigenous product?

Someone had to make all those boomerangs

agreed, its pretty sick
its funny the "new fans" coming on and raving about this brave new approach and thanking rennie from instigating it...no idea they've had variations on this jersey for years

@KiwiMurph it's not a serious question surely? Wobs won that in spite of Lolesio. He did bring a new string to his bow though - the ability to freely and easily give away penalties as well as crumble under the tiniest hint of pressure.

i didn;t actually watch much of the game but i thought id seen people raving about him...not so?
-
Lolesio played really well. Barely made a mistake, defended well and out-kicked Farrell. For a last minute call-up it was damn impressive.

Wasn't the impression I got. I thought he gave away at least 3 dumb penalties. Maybe he played well when you compare to his usual standard.
-
glad we got that sorted
-
@Kiwiwomble 3 penalties and a YC. Kicked some goals for a change and made a decent amount of tackles, so maybe that combined with his 9m of running makes for a really good game.

@Bones im not arguing either way, that just the first critique ive seen, doesn't read well

I'm more than happy for them to continue with him. Brings a smile to my face to see he played really well.
-
The YC and at least one Pen took place in the 78th after the game was won. Can't remember the other two, think one was for holding which you can hardly blame him for.

Interesting take!
Fingers crossed he's there for the RC.
-
Yeah I mean... it's not like JOC has been in good form (or even fitness). Noah has been better than him all season including, crucially, kicking at a much higher percentage. So weird bone to pick Bones.

I could be tempted to get an old school All Blacks jersey like that, especially if they put like the old Adidas logo to really go with the theme
-
I thought Lolesio had a bloody good game, I don't read stats just watch game, and he seemed to do everything I want a young 10 to do. Have been inpressed with him during super too.
I actually wonder if this was the breakout performance Rennie etc wanted, not saying he absolutely killed it, but looked for first time quite comfortable at this level, and thunk he will go forward with a lot more confidence going forward. -
If playing well is getting the ball to Kerevi, then he played well…
I reckon Lolesio still stands too deep which means he doesn’t put doubt into the defenders mind of being a running threat. You want a young 1st 5 to be a threat with ball in hand and they should be taking on the line or at the very least setting up to do so.
-
@Dan54 we're talking about the same guy that choked in the final rounds? I got my "stats" from watching the game.
I'm not bone picking by the way, very happy for aus to continue with him.

@KiwiMurph Kellaway is a gun player. Just does the right thing more often than not.
Jordie at fullback, that’s unexpected!

Ikitau is a big loss - like Kellaway does the right thing more often than not.
Pleased to see they didn't rush Hodge in.
-
@KiwiMurph I would of had Perese at 13 instead of Paisami. He was one of the form backs in Super Rugby before getting injured.
-
Bit of a backline shake up for England with a couple of 21 year olds coming into the 15 (JvP and Freeman). Porter also gets a first cap at 13. Underhill in for Curry who's on a flight home. 6:2 bench
-
Nowell? Really?
-
@Margin_Walker is JvP the guy who came on last week? Big unit for a 9.

He's the Aussie Ben Smith.

I actually thought he did okay last week, despite having reservations about him originally (well the 2022 version anyway).

Arundell did more in 2 mins
-
Yeah, he's an interesting one. I really like him. Looked great in age grade rugby and has slotted in well in a good Leicester team when he's played. I think he's better than Randall anyway.
Amusingly though he failed to make the 23 for Leicester in the Premiership final the other week with Youngs and Wigglesworth (who's about 47 now) preferred.
Think he'll go well all the same.
-
Ha. I'm a LI fan, so would prefer to roll the dice and play Arundell as well. Love watching the kid play. I just don't hate Nowell being in there. May have changed my stance on that by Saturday afternoon though.
-
@Margin_Walker he looked pretty good when he came on plus he was on debut. There are several reasons for it, but the English play did speed up when he was on, which was a good thing.
-
I'm neither too disappointed nor too shocked by that selection, though I feel Eddie has missed a trick or two. A bit more speed in the back row would help to nullify Aussie's go forward momentum and I feel that he's dropped the wrong wing and I'm saying that as an Exeter boy. I like Nowell and think he is a good international wing, but is a little shy of match fitness IMO. Plus Cockanisiga offers a different option to anything else we have. He's a true power runner and offers the midfield a good bail out option coming in off his wing - just use him in the right way.
Underhill needs to stay fit and Eddie needs to keep him on the pitch.
-
-
Agree on the back row. Eddie's given himself a real issue on that front by having Lawes as captain. Lots of calls for him to play lock, but he just doesn't do that any more, so you're trapped with a Billy V / Lawes combo.
I've got a lot of time for Cokanasiga, but unless he's in proper rampaging form, you do lose a bit when he's involved as he's not got the most rounded game. Freeman's a big guy although probably not someone you'd be bringing into midfield too much on the crash ball. Interested to see what Porter offers on this stage, as I've not seen a whole lot of him. Probably picked as a more direct option than Marchant.

Oi, he's Cornish! Bloody Devonian
He’s certainly Cornish when he’s injured!

@Duluth pleased to see Frost get a chance at last.
