that has to be pretty much first string XV bar Smith and CGB on the bench

Heard an interview from the English attack coach who seems very impressed with Sam Gilbert. I expect him to get the first shot at the fullback jersey
-
@Kiwiwomble Good looking squad. Really happy that Fakatava is back already. I hope he's now left his injuries behind him. I'd be tempted to wrap him in cotton wool, but that's not going to help him either.

Media release:

@Stargazer yeah, bit of a coin toss on the best approach, still hasnt 100% proven himself at the next level so want him to get game time...but also dont want him getting injured, hopefully they take this preseason slow, just get him around the field...dont push himself just yet

-
arscott is also more than capable

Same for TUJ?
-
@Crucial for me, similar but not the same, fakatava has a good shot of going to the world cup and playing, not just making up the numbers, AB selectors have shown no interest in TUJ and so i want to see as get as much out of him as we can
Fakatava has also JUST come back from injury where as TUJ should be fully fit so theyre also at different stages

Not sure whether it's a lack of interest. I don't think you can pin non-selection on the selectors in his case. He's just injured way too often (with different types of injuries) and can't show consistency in his performance for that reason. Unfortunately, he's so injury prone, that he's a selection liability for overseas' tournaments and tours in particular.
-
@Stargazer just a phrase, i just mean for whatever reason i don't think he is in with a shot of the AB's this year

Imagine that. An Umaga-Jensen, fully fit.
What a world that would be.

Link to livestream. This time, it looks like it won't be geo-restricted!
-
@Stargazer result

Was looking forward to going to this but have ended up still in Welly.
The crew down there are going after watching the Chiefs Manawa games on TV. Should get some decent support being in town on a Friday evening. Can make a night out from it (if you can find parking).
Brilliant having the resource of a ground right in town. I would be great if a mini-stadium of sorts and parking could be done. -

Watching the Chiefs and Manawa games on TV this arvo. Plus I am going up there next week for the Manawa game. Not sure I could handle Levin two weeks in a row

Sincere apologies to those wanting to watch the live stream. There are issues with it and seems to not be working.
This issue is with Bev's Broadcasting (streaming company) not Highlanders. The match will be recordedFrom the Highlanders FB page
-
Stream shags itself and they don't even give updates
-
Stream is live now. Not of good quality though.
-
In one of the comments, someone says it's 21 - 5 to the Highlanders. No idea whether that's correct. Waiting for the commentator to confirm.
-
Half time: Highlanders 21 - 5 Moana Pasifika
-
Game now running. Connor Garden Bachop on and looking sharp
-
Great try to Danny Toala!
28 - 19 Highlanders
-
Toala is looking really good for MP. Almost another try.
-
FT: Highlanders 33 - 24 Moana Pasifika
Moana Pasifika definitely looks better than last year, but with the average footage and commentary, I couldn't quite see the impact of subs on the game. It seemed the Highlanders' defence let them down in the last third of the game.

Paul Cully's write-up of this game:
-
Just want to say; I called it a good 18 months ago when I said Sam Gilbert looked a good midfield option. Dermody saying he sees him as a viable midfielder.
