@canefan Flanders also had a good game, and isn't even in the 23. Why is it always the 7 to get subbed?
Good to see Godfrey on the bench again. I hope he'll get more than 6 minutes, this time.
-
Holland is such a muppet aye. Let’s start a player that’s never played 6 at blindside, and leave a player who excelled in the 6 jersey during the NPC on the bench. He’s also dropped Flanders which is a joke.
Why not start Delany at 4, keep Flanders at 6 and bring Iose off the bench where he provides the most impact.
I’m so over these dodgy selections.
Nevertheless, the Canes should coast to a comfortable win and it’s good to see Higgins on the bench.

Delany should be at 6 in that case. I hope he starts against the Blues.
Holland just can’t help himself when it comes to starting an undersized pack.

Hopefully that means Lakai starts against the Blues.

The Hurricanes really need to stem this injury tide. Hopefully Flanders is only out short term.
So in Grace, MMT, Ioane and Flanders, that's four NZ loose forwards injured and it's only the beginning of week 2.

Agree. An odd selection
-
With Sangster and Bird unavailable, I can see why Delany is on the bench and not wearing the 6 jersey.

With those outs they need lock cover on the bench as I’m still not sure IWL is an 80 minute player at this level.

Could he not just move from 6 to lock?

What's happened to Bird. He is not listed as unavailable
I would sooner Delany start at 6 with Bird either starting (in preference to Blackwell) or in the reserves. Maybe one of Daniel or Dan Sinkinson is supposed to be Dominic Bird. (and I'm amazed that this hasn't been picked up yet. 1 week is OK but a 2nd week.)
Unavailable for selection: Ruben Love, Bailyn Sullivan, Daniel Sinkinson, Tyler Laubscher, Reed Prinsep, Peter Umaga-Jensen, Dan Sinkinson, Justin Sangster, Brett Cameron, TJ Perenara, Jacob Devery, Devan Flanders
-
Not too bad a side either

It's hard to say really, maybe being a big Bird he can't fly?
-
@Canes4life I too thought this would get more love
-
Just a thought I’d throw this in here for everyone worried about Prinseep just delivered to there training ground and I can tell you he has quite a considerable limp going on.

Did you get insight on any other injured players?

When I drove past yesterday there was a decent number of players training. Not sure if the squad for Melbourne had already left or if that was the dev side but plenty out there in kit.

It wouldn't have been any of the players who played last week as they would have flown directly to Melbourne.
Hopefully it was those injured players nearing full health.

@mikey07 Love this inside info!
-
@Canes4life Unfortunately not he was the only one getting out of his car when I arrived. There we a couple In canes gear in the gym but I didn’t know who they were.
-
Jeez bring back 2015 Julian Savea. Hope he can crack the Super Rugby try scoring record tonight.
-
I’m vertically challenged myself, but Morgan really is a midget out there.
-
Looked a touch harsh, needed a replay of that penalty.
-
Rebels score early off the back of two quick penalties.
-
The TMO has to be looking at the cleanout on Jordie surely? How the hell did they miss the lock (#5) come flying superman like at smashing Jordie in the face?
-
Just what this game needed a fast start from the home team

I think you want more than one good game for the season out of him. Maybe aim for 2013 Fatty.
-
Is it that hard for props to catch the ball?

Got the crowd into it. Which is something because the crowd went out of the last game after the Saders went up by 20.

2015 was the year he dominated, apart that drop in the final which I will never forget.
-
About the worst start the Hurricanes will play all year hopefully. Non stop penalties and a drop ball whilst in possession.
-
Canes way too eager in defence and getting offside too easily.
-
Nice maul D by Blackwell
-
Surely a penalty there the Rebels 22 played the ball on his knees?
-
Wake up Canes.
