Found that a very hard watch. Ref seemed to miss a lot of things and Tmo too. Thought play should have stopped for some injuries close to the play. Taking out players behind the ruck to clear the way for a pick and go is now legal? And not straight only applies at some lineouts and knock ons are ignored if ref not in line. Really don't know what Mr Berry was looking at a lot of the time. And I think that flowed into uncertainty from the players. Never knew when Nick thought ball was out.

Lowe Gilbert Ainsley Frizzell and Harmon went well. But Hegarty and Fines Leilawasa were best on the park for me.

That’s game legitimately made me wonder if I even like rugby any more

So many penalises, off side called every 3 or 4 rucks, cards firing around everywhere, players laying around in back play all the time

I know Im bias but fuck it, I think ppps and mmts cards were harsh, ppp falls across the line but the maul still forms, penalise if you have to but the game carried on

To me it looked like MMT just tackled a player breaking off the maul in an attempt to score, I don’t think he was part of the maul and so not sure how he could collapse it, maybe on re watch I’ll see what I’ve obviously missed

Burns was lively with ball in hand but damn the ball seemed it loose some psi every time we passed it too him because he can’t kick for shit, even sounded weird coming off his boot

We were shit, ref was shit rugby really can be shit

@Kiwiwomble Just watched the highlighs and really thought the Landers were pretty unlucky. They broke the line only to drop the ball, also was surprised the Landers never got awarded at least one penalty try. Berry desperately wanted the Force to win by the look of it.

    Frizzell

He was busy but toothless and to top it off, he fucked a try going for the glory dive instead of just flopping over the line.

@Bones I really hope we dont have to suffer the ignominy of guys like Frizzell in the WC who are clearly past whatever sell-by date they had. Any opposition will just be salivating at the mere thought. That said I'm sure BB and Coles will be on that bus even though their time is also up.

As a neutral I couldn't face watching much of the last half but
-the Force at least tried, they looked a better team on the day (with few if any stars)...
-the Highlander forwards are good (but the hooker looked out of shape and unhappy/troubled trying to keep up) and overall the team looked some kilos overweight-do they have a fitness expert?
-the Highlanders obv need better depth in distributors but this seems to me to be a nationwide problem.
-I'd take MMT over Frizell at higher honour level (just seems to have more initiative etc even if he didn't have a great game) but at super level SF seems to get more blame than his share, he's an ok Super Rugby player.
-Really like Harmon, I'm surprised the Crusaders let him go.
Edit: oh yeah when you said the kicking was shit you were overly positive!

He's just building back into it after a long injury break so I will cut hom a little slack, but I don't think PPP has the "mongrel' to progress much further from here. I thought this before he got injured and nothing has changed my mind since his return.

Does this sink their finals hopes or is there still any chance of them making the finals from here?

@SBW1 The Highlanders sit at 7th on the table, so they're still in a finals' position. Remember, the top 8 make it. Still a lot of round robin games to be played.

@Stargazer Have a feeling they can still make a late bid provided of course they get some reinforcements, Nuggy and Folau is a start.

The competition really need to change the playoffs to top 4 or top 6. Top 8 just waters down this competition too much. Every team should earn the right to play playoff footy, right now the Highlanders aren't even close to looking like a playoff team even though the competition suggests they are.

@Canes4life RA would never agree to it. Table tells you why. All these notions about 'earning the right' etc don't pay the bills.

What they actually need to do is figure out how to even the comp. If it was even (or more even) it might be possible to have a top 4 cut off.

At least the 4th Vs 5th quarter should be a cracker, the others will be walk overs
