Choat & Sotutu mostly for defensive work. Suafoa had a good match from the the bench

Christie got the official Blues MOTM this week. That's the first time in a while that the TSF voting hasn't really matched what they picked

@Duluth He was tackling like another loose forward at times.

@Kirwan yeah, he saved the team's bacon a few times in that first half hour.

@Crucial Choat and Sotutu ended up on 23 and 20 tackles each as well, and quite a few others were in the teens. Was a huge effort.

@Kirwan had to be when you have a 10 that gives the ball back to the opposition whenever he gets it (exaggeration to make a point).
What BB did straight after a long period on defence was criminal. I'm surprised his forwards didn't smack him in the sheds at half time (or maybe they did which is why he got better)

@Crucial Sullivan also kicked in the same manner, it's clearly a game plan thing (Perofeta also did the same when he played ten). Execution is one thing, but am getting bored of the anti-BB posts, he played very well in the second half, with a forward pack under pressure with a man for 20mins.

    Showed his class IMO.

That was nothing compared to if he did that for the ABs. He would be roundly, and rightly, criticised.
Even if it was something they trained for, that wasn't the moment and he shouldn't have done it. Shows a lack of thought, or panic, or something. Just know it wasn't good and you can get as bored as you like but that doesn't take away dumb play from someone that should know better.

@Crucial It's boring as I watch RM doing the cross kicks in 22 (costing the game against the Chiefs), Dmac having a mare against the a poor team like the reds, yet it's BB who gets the bulk of the criticism on here.

In the context of the game situation, he played well. Almost scored a wonder try out of nothing, defended well, and tried to get our forwards in the right part of the field.

He's back to number 2 in the AB pecking order after that weekend.

......and RM gets criticised for it too.

I agree that BB > RM on last week form.
As I said in another thread, DMac had his worst game of the season but the alternatives didn't exactly leap ahead.

No, but Dmac raised his hand as a flat track bully. RM and BB were in a game that was high intensity, and high quality, both under huge pressure.

Dmac's poor game was against the Reds!

How does that equate to being a flat track bully? Strange comment.

DMac has outplayed BB and RM so far this year in "high intensity, high quality" games. The proof will be in the finals and how he goes against the Brumbies.

I'm not giving him any leeway for last week. He wasn't awful but he does need to show he can play better when his pack isn't playing well or his halfback is slow.

Because RM and BB showed they can play well when their packs are going backwards, DMac stuggled badly in a low quality game.

As you say, up to him to prove that wrong.
