Not a Sky question, more of a Foxtel question, but I am guessing they are using the same technolongy. Here is Aus we now have access to every channel apart from movies. Will I still be able to view programmes that I have recorded/downloaded from channels I don't normally have access to after the free access period ends?
Yep, they save to your box ... not to a cloud etc.
FYI -my Foxtel box once crapped itself with a bunch of games and movies on it and I lost them all.

@Bovidae on some of the older boxes if you put a USB in, it often crashed them!
Assume sky disabled the USB functionality to stop people copying stuff.
Yes. I used to record to video cassette when Sky was connected to the TV via the VHS. I believe there is a way to record to a DVD recorder in real-time.
-
@taniwharugby Hmm, I still have a working VCR. How long do unused casettes last? Do they degrade?
-
@Stargazer they do, but still better than nothing?
I transferred some video stuff form when I was in the UK 99-05 to DVD last year, quality is poor anyway, without looking at possible degradation.

The Commerce Commission has granted clearance for NEP Broadcast Services New Zealand Limited to acquire from Sky Network Television Limited the assets of its outside broadcasting business, Outside Broadcasting Limited. Chair Anna Rawlings said the Commission is satisfied that the acquisition is unlikely to substantially lessen competition in any New Zealand market. Central to the Commission’s decision was its assessment of what Sky would otherwise do if the proposed acquisition did not proceed. In particular, the Commission considered and tested whether there was a realistic prospect that OSB would otherwise continue providing outside broadcasting services in competition with NEP. “After careful consideration, the Commission is satisfied that there is no realistic prospect that OSB would continue to provide outside broadcasting services if the proposed transaction did not proceed. Rather, we consider it would seek to outsource those services to a third party, most likely NEP” Ms Rawlings said. “We are also satisfied that, absent the sale to NEP, OSB’s assets were unlikely to be sold to another outside broadcasting provider and used to compete against NEP. Given this, we are satisfied that the proposed transaction is unlikely to substantially lessen competition when compared to the likely scenario if the transaction did not proceed.”

Finally woken up.
I'll tell you one thing that would get me going to more live games Tex. Work with the officials and get rid of the overlong breaks between plays. The long scrum sets, the constant water boys. All encouraged so there is room for the TV 'experts' to 'add value' to the broadcast.
All momentum for the crowd gets lost and worse still encourages some fucktard to play 'Hey Baby'. -

Only game I've been to in QLD in over 10 years was the test at Suncorp last year, and the constant music in the breaks just pissed me off.
