Sensational performance from Ardie. And let's not forget his captaincy and leadership.
Be interesting to see if Robertson sees him as his 7.
He's the form openside running around NZ. Razor would have to be brain damaged not to play him there on this form.
The reason before was he'd played almost exclusively at 8. Get that, but that's changed.

@antipodean But is he is as good on "both sides of the ball" as Ethan Blackadder? 😉
You're a little bit obsessed aren't you? Also, the opposition wasn't exactly test-quality...
I suppose when you have to read Richard Knowler harp on about Grace and Blackadder being in the picture then I think it gives us all outside of Chch every reason to worry.
We want the ABs to be the best team with the best players. I’m sick of players getting in that don’t deserve to be there or that have shown no form.
Blackadder hasn’t even been on the park, so shouldn’t be in the ABs. He can go and earn it in the NPC.

lol Ardie only scoring 54 points in Fantasy is diabolical. That was easily a 100 point performance.
-
But anyway, apart from Crusaders fans trying to steal the limelight like they always do, this is Moana's moment.
How far can Ardie take this team? Assuming they make the finals, which they should. The scoreline was close, but it was a near shutout where Moana dominated most of the play. They looked very organized in defence and dominated most of the collision against a big Blues pack.

I can't remember anyone saying at the start of the season that Moana Pasifika had a good shot at making the playoffs this year.
Hats off to Tana Umaga, Ardie Savea and their squad.
Yep Tom Coventry too as forwards coach. He had a point to prove after leaving the Blues and has done a solid job with virtually the same Moana players that he got given at the start of the season, with a wee boost from a certain player.

Jesus where did Ardie come from for that turnover!
Side entry is where.

Honestly, I think the Blues could have some moans about a few of the penalties tonight and that did look like their tackler needed to roll as well.
However, to me, I just couldn't understand why they didn't come round the corner and go at anyone except Ardie. He was the threat and it was pretty strange to see them head straight back to the near side with him in the ideal position to attack the ball. It speaks to how well he is playing that specific tactics are needed to reduce his impact, that is McCaw, Smith (and Pocock) level form at the breakdown.
You have to take hats off to MP though, they were the better team and look better coached right now. The Blues are being let down by very highly experienced heads and don't appear to trust their game plan.
They had a strategy of knock-backs off contestables today, which I can't understand at all given the danger of MP in open play. They fed them opportunity after opportunity there.
I still think the Blues make the 6, but I'm very worried about MP for the Chiefs.

Great watch, great result.
How Gardner didn't flash a YC for repeat infringements inside the 10m line by the Blues is beyond me.
If he had, it would have been a bigger winning margin. And would have been thoroughly deserved.

Just got home from the game unbelievable atmosphere just a brilliant vibe that I haven’t experienced in a very long time
Ardie Savea’s performance was from another planet his skill level ,anticipation knowing when to enter a ruck or take play to where the space is truly remarkableI have to give Hoskins Sotutu a lot of credit , he took a massive hit to the shoulder area early in the game and to have played the full 80 deserves a mention , actually thought he was one of the better Blues forwards on the paddock as well as Josh Beehre
But I do think MP were much more creative and both their set piece lineout and scrum stood up I thought all 3 MP loose forwards carried with so aggression but Ardies performance was special it was both a privilege and a pleasure to be on hand to see one of the best performances from a 7 in a very long time

Blues tended to be "saved" by letting in a try. Refs are very reluctant to yellow in those circumstances anymore.

Two resulted in just penalties because MP knocked on at the line

Blues almost gone now you’d think with the Bye next week.
If Canes lose to Reds they will have to beat Moana to qualify.

Yeah but if they also beat the Reds then they will need to beat Moana to get up to 4th.

He does get a bit of extra leeway at breakdown time yes (especially at home).
Still, the better team won.

Great result for Moana Pacifica but Gardner is a ref who favours the underdog. Case in point is him penalising the Blues for sealing off when they were hot on attack looking to go back in front. He then proceeded to watch MP do pretty much the same thing going off their feet and sealing off at every second ruck on the way to putting the game virtually beyond the Blues by getting two scores ahead.
