Man, it's going to be a long few years. I am totally sick of the bullshit around the last couple of days from many people who I would normally consider pretty balanced and sane.
I get it, people don't like Trump. Hell, I don't like Trump. But America is a democratic society. He got the greater share of the college vote, he's in power. 50 million people voted for him. 50 MILLION PEOPLE. He said something to those 50 million people that the previous administrators, and all the political analysts/commentators etc didn't. Not to mention all the bloody famous people who have now decided that as they are famous, that everybody wants to hear their opinion. He's earned his shot. You've got to give him his shot. That's democracy, that's freedom, thats how it works.
The womans protest is fucking appalling. I've seen so many stupid meme's with people attending/applauding it with hashtags like #thisisdemocracy. #promotingpeace, #letlovetrumphate, #respect4everybody
etc etc.
Well how about realising that democracy is what got Trump in, promoting peace is actually listening, acknowleding and working with the 50 million people who voted for him, letting love trump hate is not saying/writing things against the 50 million people who voted for him and respect for everybody INCLUDES the 50 million people who voted for him.

Can we all agree that making Madonna accountable for being such a dirtbag whore would be a good start to a bit more unity? -

I find this pretty distasteful. He's just a very tall 10 year old kid in an uncomfortable environment. Don't you have something better to do than gossiping about children?
Not entirely new tho'
Rush Limbnaugh called Chelsea Clinton a "dog" - when she was 13. And before that called Jimmy Carters daughter the ugliest first child ever. A GOP communications director went to town on (14 year old) Obama kid re her dress length saying she looked like she was at a bar etc. She then apologised. Without actually apologising. Fox News has regularly had to (eventually) disable comments on any story about Obamas kids after, for example, they got -
“I wonder if she applied as a muDslime..or a foreign student..or just a Ni@@er.”
“Hopefully she gets cancer/aids or one of those colored diseases.”
“Another academically challenged affirmative-action parasite steals a place from a qualified White or Asian student.”After the eldest got accepted to Harvard...
Of course those are all alternate facts.

I don't disagree with any of this but I would add that democracy also includes the right to protest and/or make feelings known.
if you ignore the fringe element and over the top parts of the women's protest what it boils down to is a section of the public saying to the Trump administration 'OK you won, but don't take that as agreement with your displayed misogyny'.
Yes, it look like sour grapes when done so early in the piece, but I also hope it is a message that may have sunk in a little.
Is 'alternate truth' the new 'fake news'? -
Trump now saying he will not be releasing his tax returns.
“The White House response is that he’s not going to release his tax returns. We litigated this all through the election. People didn’t care. They voted for him,” Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, said on Sunday.
Shocked....

@Crucial Very true Crucial ... but you tell me what has gotten more exposure the last few days. The protests, negative commentary and irrelevant things to the future of US government? Or the future of the US government.
From what I've seen, I'd say it's 95% the former, 5% the latter.

Its a show of strength to congress as much as anything.
Trump is the most on record anti-woman president pretty much ever, confessed to sexual assault, accused of raping ex wife, wants to defund the no.1 source of womens healthcare in America, wants to stop safe available abortion etc. Nothing in that march will change that, but when it comes to pushing it through congress they will vote less with whats right or their core beliefs, more with what keeps their seat.
Its a play straight out of the Tea Party, who protested Obama a lot - especially on healthcare & tax reform. The TP vocally went to town over Obamacare WAY before most GOP congressmen, those who got on board were fine, those that didn't got thrown out by TP candidates.

@gollum
I am entirely unsurprised by this. His tax return will be very long.
Therefore - MSM can and will run a story with a new "revelation" /"bombshell" every few days for weeks on end. And it is certain they will - whether fair or not. This is about controlling the news cycle against a mostly hostile MSM.

He literally on tape saying he grabs women by the pussy. That's sexual assault. To test, try grabbing a woman by the pussy. There's also the, uh, rape thing re Ivanka... I didn't even bother with the strolling into Miss Teen Americas dressing rooms...
Arf! Its like Kellyanne is right here! Nothing to do with who he owes money to & where his money comes from...or a promise made during the election to release them.
Its because the press would harp on about them distracting from the greatness of America thing.

Not sure what you mean by 'irrelevant things' but the press will always focus on the negative. Especially so when their audience is the same public that is overwhelmingly negative toward Trump (by poular vote).
The beast is also being fed daily by the Trump admins own statements. If they want people to judge them on their actions then just maybe they should learn to stop making the irrelevant, relevant.
My biggest concern with the Trump administration is the way he is so thin skinned and reactionary, acts like a spoiled toddler and has surrounded himself with people that back up this behavior. One day this will have an effect that he can't bullshit his way through and will cause irreparable harm, probably in the area of international relations.
He seems unaware (or uncaring) f the fact that most aspects of international relations, such as trade, security and diplomacy, are played out over long periods through relationship forming by public servants. The ebbs and flows of various governments can speed up and slow down these relationships but rarely are they irrevocably damaged through extreme knee-jerk actions. -

There are multiple things you can call out Trump for, but claiming he confessed to sexual assault is absolutely ridiculous.

I hope you don't sit on a jury anytime soon. There's a big difference between "you can" and "I did".
Wealth, power and fame change the dynamics. Trump knows this and that's what he was talking about. Bill Burr does a good piece on this:
