Champions Trophy

Anyway time for sleep. @mariner4life hasn't been too far off the mark so far so expecting to wake up to a comfortable victory...
-
Even more disappointing to wake up and find it got washed out with us in the box seat. However, that's the way the wafer crumbles and at least it wasn't our game against the Bangles that got washed out (not yet, anyway!).
The Group is wide open now. If we can beat England we'll have a foot in the door of the semis. Lose to England and we'll have a foot in the door of the plane home.
-
All going according to plan then fucked by English "summer"
Their Lions skullduggery knows no bounds

Man that's frustrating, a win against Aus first up would have put us way ahead of the game in this comp. Still a lot of positives to take from that, and a big confidence boost. Guppy looks in red hot form, Ronchi gets a big confidence boost, Rosco got some time in the middle and Kane was Kane, what a player. By all accounts our seamers had them hopping around too, great to see Milne get a couple as his extra pace provides a nice point of difference.
Negatives... middle/lower order could not have had a better platform and they failed to capitalise. Need way more from them.
Bring on England..

Yeah - those guys have failed in three of the last four games - costing a loss to the Bangles, not helping vs India, and giving up an almost unassailable position in this one to where it was still possible for Smith and others to salvage that game.
Not sure at what point we switch to the CdGh bandwagon for one of Neesham or Anderson, but it's not far away.
-
Oz get the Champions Trophy nightmare of having their game against the "minnow" rained out.
That's handy for us if we happen to lose to England - we can still sneak through by beating the Bangles as long as England beat Oz.
Not quite so handy if we beat England - we'd still need to beat the Bangles or at least stay ahead of them on run-rate to ensure getting through.
Still, it doubtless favours us. Not as good as the most likely (tournament points) conclusion of the two rained out matches being NZ 2, Oz 2, Bangles 0, but better than Oz 3, NZ 1, Bangles 0.

Don't think the weather is looking great tomorrow either. Could throw another washout into calculations
-
Gezz bloody rain, the Aussies will be spewing at that.
I'm not sure if this is because the camera's focus on him a lot, but I've noticed that Steve Smith puts out a lot of really negative body language. Often throwing his head back in despair etc, not sure if that's what you really want from your captain.
-
@No-Quarter I would be willing to put up with it if it was combined with the thousands of runs he puts out
-
@mariner4life touche. I'm not having a go at him, I don't mind the lesbian at all - he's a far cry from fucking Clarke. Just wondering if someone should give him a nudge and tell him to rein it in a bit as I doubt it inspires a lot of confidence. That said, they're all professionals, that sort of stuff shouldn't really worry the rest of the team.
My enduring memory of our match against them is a super slow-mo of Smith throwing his head back and flapping his lips around. Not sure why Sky thought that would be a good moment to slow the cameras right down.
-
He's a grumpy fella though is Smith. Post match wash up he says the groundsmen could've been quicker to get the covers on.
But again I'd be willing to let all that slide for all those runs.
Setting up nicely for us I reckon. Possible washout tonight with more rain forecast. Comes down to us vs Bangles and Eng vs OZ. we just need to win with a better RR than the Aussies over Poms.

Root is very Kane like, just goes about his business without fuss and ticks along close to a run a ball.
Santner has a bloody handy ODI bowling record. Sub 5 RPO. If his batting comes good then he'll be a massive asset.
