I like pretty much so any music where I can recognise a talent. I acknowledge what is and isn't to my taste, but I just see no talent in your average rap song. I don't care that i'm in the minority of this, I just think it's utter shit & any talentless buffoon can do it.<br />

What do you think of people like Skrillex as examples of electrohouse/ dubstep then? E.g.<br />

Disagree strongly. I have listened to and enjoyed more types of music all my life. It's my lifeblood, and I have the hearing of an 80 year old to prove it.<br />

You can even make a living out of it if you decide to act like you come from "da hood" - regardless of if you do or not.<br />

MN5 - Ironic that the song you chose above, was covered and rapped over (with even what I will admit are nice heartfelt lyrics) to become one of the best selling, if not the best selling, rap songs of all time.<br />
<br />
Voltron - so you don't like rap either? Cool, thought it was just me.<br />

Good point although I actually fucken hate P Diddys efforts on that track. -

<br />
Grandmaster Flash and the Sugarhill Gang were both just awesome, they really are the Bill Haley/Elvis equivalents as artists who basically created their genre..... -

Yep, the beat was created by the very talented axemen of "Chic". I can play the lead or the bass, damn shame I only have two arms.<br />

As was "Another One Bites the Dust."<br />

Chic is seriously underrated, but (surprisingly) several months back Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke (!?!) listed Chic's Greatest Hits as one of his 10 most important records. They remain the greatest disco band of all time. -

At the time, no one would hear of 3 black brothers playing Rock'n'Roll! So Bernard and Nile came up with the whole Disco thing. I didn't even know what Disco was. We pressed 'Dance, Dance, Dance' ourselves as we didn't have a record deal. We took it to a club, the DJ played it and people just freaked. From there, we signed to Atlantic."<br />

Those guys are from my part of the globe (probably the most famous band to ever come out of Niagara Falls - hence the "Honeymoon Suite"). They still play shows in Legion halls, Moose Lodges, and small taverns in strip malls around southern Ontario, playing the same circuit as Helix, Anvil, and the Killer Dwarfs. Oh, and yeah, they're pretty sure most people here know they suck.
