60-70 for me without a break has been a part of my workout for years. I got hooked on them thirty years ago when Herschel Walker, who is a farkin' beast, used to use the push-up as his main workout.<br />

(Fast-fwd to 2:32.....he says he's down from the 5,000 push-ups a day as a college/NFL player, to 750-1,500 push-ups per day now (he's 50 years old and training for MMA).)<br />

But, nowadays... I hate 'em. The past five years I've been doing them on my fists rather than fingers, and I sometimes do them on dumbbells. Right now, I'm looking for new chest exercises with far fewer reps. -

I was one out. Did 24. Long old haul up to 100 from here. I was fully honest with myself though and did them properly. So tonights program is 12 17 13 13 17..with 60 secs in between. I dunno if I can do that..... -
Been doing 3 sets of push ups after bench press on Thursdays for a couple of months now. Tonights first set was 65, which is about equal with the most ive ever done. Surprisingly this routine has been the fastest gain of push up ive ever had. At this rate i should see 100 in a couple of months......we'll see.

Think I may have been doing a bit of overtraining judging from a ( not good ) pain in my right shoulder. Frustrating but maybe you get that doing this 4 days a week ?<br />

stink bro, sucks when you are getting into the groove and an injury messes things up. Bit of rest and you'll be back into it.... unless you start a one arm push up programme!!<br />

I just have to have the discipline to not do em for a few days which can be tough as it is easy to drop and do xxx amount anytime, anywhere..... [/sub]<br />

[/quote]Thanks for this, I like the concept of doing many, many reps and will keep trying to push myself harder.....maybe in 10 years I can be 1/10th as good as him, in my dreams..... -
Last all out set, 82 of the mutha fuckas, funny, I felt well on the way to getting past 90 but hit the wall really quickly and felt like a weak little girl on numbers 80-82 ! Don't think I'm on track to get to the ton in the time advertised but I'll get there eventually, perhaps by the end of august.<br />

As discussed still smashing the squats, walking to the car is a farkin breeze now ( not that it was amazingly hard but still, much much easier ) -

Paeks I've seen your benching stats, you'd smash past 40 EASY brudda ! I don't go nose to ground but I put a little paperweight ( about fist sized ) and make sure my chest touches every time, this is better for the shoulders supposedly........<br />

I hope to see an improvement in my benching, I'm doing the pushups heaps more explosively than even a few weeks back so surely there will be some kind of spillover effect.<br />

Aw and yeah, the ton is definitely a party trick I want to bust out, helps being a bit lighter than I was, not much but every bit counts. -
At boot camp this morning we had to do 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 press ups, so 110 in total and I was thinking about this thread while crying during them....<br />

I did ten and then stayed in pressup position while training partner did ten and the 9 etc etc.<br />

When I got to about 5 on the way back up, the form was completely gone and I wouldn't class any from then on in a real press ups. But even so, it was an awesome workout. My flatmate who is a petite but sporty chick managed all 110 full "male" press -ups! -
Good shit Hooroo, I find gritting your teeth and smashing them as fast as you can ( whilst maintaining form ) is the best way. It is easy to lapse into shit form with them but I get the wife to watch and ensure I'm keeping the back straight and all of that. Rotator cuffs are holding up thus far....
