@MajorRage even Cruise was epic in this.
Yep. Apart from the dancing which was what people seemed to love. His lines and delivery were sensational. FUCK YOUR OWN FACE!!!

Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Fuck. Yes.
Took the boy to see this with the expectation of some epic monster battles and by fuck did it deliver.
If you exit this movie thinking anything other than THAT WAS AWESOME then you need to take long hard look in the mirror and ask yourself when you became such a miserable old bastard.
4.5 three headed alpha dragons out of 5 thermonuclear Godzillas.
-
THe Dirt - Story of Motley Crue.
Equal parts awesome as sad (had forgotten about the brief exit of Vince, and didnt even know about his daughter)
4 lines out of 5 groupies
Fighting With My Family - story of female wrestler, Paige. Was a decent watch, some good humour, solid performances from all the main characters.
3.5 Zak attacks out of 5 smelling what THE. ROCK. GOT. COOKING

Deadpool 2: They were never going to be able to recreate the magic of the first one, which was probably partly built on surprise. And this was definitely a slight step down. Lacked the heart of the first one i thought. Some pretty funny moments where i laughed out loud, and i don't do that in many movies these days. Domino was a fox
3.5 baby balls out of 5 dark like the DC universes
Tomb Raider: In need of something mindless to watch, the Mrs and i sat in front of this. And goddam it, i liked it, i was entertained for an hour and a half. Alicia Vikanda is really fucking good looking. And in this she is a bit of a baddass without ever coming across as a bullshit unstoppable force. It moves along pretty quick which is good as there is not a huge amount of story to cover.

Aladdin
After being dead against this based on the previews, we decided to try out the new Sydney Metro train system (which was fucking cool) and go see this at one of the shopping centres on the line, with an open mind.
Overall - it was quite enjoyable, even with a few moments that grated compared to both the original animated movie (a classic) and the Disney production stage show we saw here a few years back. WHICH WAS FUCKING AMAZING - cannot recommend seeing a Disney production enough if you enjoy high production values. Mary Poppins also fits into this category.
Anyway, the movie overall was pretty good I thought. Humourous elements, some good CGI (and some a little "meh") and the music didn't get in the way, while not trying to be a carbon copy of the original.
It is everything you'd expect - loud, colourful, a few moral lessons, and overall quite fun. Will Smith as a giant blue mofo was a little off-putting, I'll admit, but he wasn't blue the whole time.
4 hot princesses out of 5 flying carpets.

So you finally got to choose the family movie?
-
@antipodean apparently John Wick 3 didn't count as "family"
-
Wait, is this serious, R rated, what the f*ck?
-
from memory, like most movies that revolve around a descent in to drugs, the first half is hilarious, the 2nd not so much.
-
Re watched Dunkirk last night.
I doubt it'll ever go into my echelon of classic war movies like Saving Private Ryan or Schindlers List but still definitely bloody good overall. Great tension throughout and I loved the aerial battles particularly.
Also this answered a few questions I had about the ending and why Tom Hardys character ended up like he did.

Last Rampage: The Escape of Gary Tison
Based on the true story of the prison break of Gary Tison and Randy Greenwalt from the Arizona State prison in the 70's, assisted by Tisons 3 sons.
Robert Patrick is pretty good as the hard Tison, Heather GRaham was good as his wife.
3.5 kin out of 5 it was Randy's idea
Also rewatched Tombstone, great cast, great movie although last 10 seemed very rushed.

Shaft
No, not the 2000 version starring SLJ but the 2019 version starring SLJ. Not sure why they didn't get just a tiny bit more creative with the title but oh well.
Great fun, some at times hilarious and offensive banter from SLJ and his estranged son who grows on you as a character despite his wimpy start and some of the most ridiculously unreastic shootouts this side of Face/Off.....I think we'd all like to live Shafts life where he does whatever he pleases and seems completely above the law and any consequences.
Worth it for the laughs and quotes if not the storyline.
3.5 FBI trainees out of 5 Bad Mutha fuckas.

Pet Semetary
Kings book was way better than the late 80s flick and that is the case here too with this recent adaptation which is even worse despite my best hopes. A couple of changes to try and freshen things up but ultimately you know exactly what is going to happen and not only that the movie was completely unscary in the slightest. When John Lithgow who I usually can't stand plays the best character by far you know a movie is in serious trouble. Avoid at all costs.

Yesterday
Danny Boyle film about a pub musician, struggling to make it, who has an accident during a worldwide incident called The Blackout.
He wakes up and is the only one who can remember The Beatles. He starts playing their songs and everyone is freaking out about how good he is.
Really enjoyed this with the family. There are some great and unexpected twists, and let me tell you the world hasn't forgotten only the Beatles - keep your eyes and ears open for that stuff.
Ed Sheeran is fucking great, as is Robert Carlyle. The American agent character is a little OTT tho.
