If the people in Japan wake to Sunshine and calm on Sunday I expect organizers to take the appropriate personal action
Yeah, why make the decision now whereas in 24 hours we might know for sure if it's going to hit - does 24 hours make a difference in cancelling the game?

You can't tell me they don't have other stadia. They have suspended the baseball season too so there must be lots of domes around standing empty

I might have misread, but when I was looking at the fixture list there was no baseball being played in Tokyo through the RWC, but I thought I saw dates for the playoffs after the cup. Feel free to correct me....

They were playing while I was there a week ago. They're playing the finals now.

Oh ok, the onseller site I was looking at doesnt offer finals tickets. There appears to be another competition in November?

Cancelling Rugby games because of a little bit of wind? Has everyone gone as soft as sh*te?
They never would have played a game at Athletic Park with that attitude!
Yep, I'd have thought the breeze was a great example of Japanese hospitality, making the guys from Wellington feel like they're back home.

Bit off topic, but still typhoon related, but has anyone heard whether the Japanese F1 Grand Prix will still be going ahead this weekend?
Based on re-watching "Rush"the other night, I'd be extremely surprised if it was cancelled!
-
Two things I find super weird is they are quite happy to wait until Sunday to decide about Sunday's games, and also not sure how cancelling matches is a 'contingency plan'.
I mean a RWC in Asia in typhoon season was already kind of stupid (you haven't lived til you've waded a street with thigh high water to get fresh water from a 7-11 that won't shut even if products are floating past you) but c'mon. Back up venue. Postponement day. Pretty basic shit. None of these pool games deserves a draw.
-
Any chance WRC management, a few French refs and Ben Skeen can take part in a special drowning event at the same time and venue as the previous scheduled matches?
Would keep TV audiences up too đ

That's a little simplistic. It's late in the typhoon season, this is a super typhoon and its projected path takes out most of the viable venues and traffic routes on a busy weekend.
Waiting until after the typhoon is projected to pass to survey the damage and ability to continue is a good idea.

The worst Typhoons are usually late in the season and they hit japan. Some other contingencies could have been arranged I think.

Although I somewhat agree, we had a massive one with deaths and lots of damage in October last year, so this isnât exactly out of the blue. Thatâs what pisses me off.
Unsurprisingly, Hokkaido was barely damaged then, and probably will get nothing now. So, that will be nice, given that the Sapporo Dome is not being used on Saturday (if my check if their schedule is correct).

Like? Book all the hotels? Book all the stadiums? For the entirety of the pool stage?
-
The alternative was to play it in March - May, something no one would countenance from the NH clubs to SANZAAR.

As you would have seen Gilpin was asked specifically about the Sapporo Dome and replied that it wasn't available.

If I were Steve Hansen , I would give Conor OâShea a call and have still have a practice game, does not have to be on the same day if the wether is bad..just an unofficial hit out..
