wtf? foot inflammation via chili? that is something new to me! Did the doc explain exactly how that works?
-
He said that it was a commonly held belief that chili help reduce inflammation but excessive amount sand the but of some shit I can't remember can have an adverse effect. I put hot sauce on everything and eat jalapenos like popcorn. It might not be this but he based it on what I'd eaten in an around the times it was most sore and when it flared up.
-
dude you must have a cast iron gut and heat shielding on your ass!! I love me some chili but you've taken it to a whole 'nother level!
Will be interesting to see what impact dialing back the heat has, and what level of consumption you (hopefully) can manage without symptoms.
This cracks me up as I'm just watching the Paul Rudd episode on Hot Ones

fell out of the rhythm for a wee bit due to consecutive weekends of piss ups and the charge towards the EOY with work projects. Ive been waking at 4am due to stress and going to bed at 8pm through exhaustion.
Only been getting to the gym 2 times a week and it's not enough to maintain muscle mass for me. Im still at a healthy weight and I am still eating well(stress hasn't gotten to my appetite) so thats good. But I need that motivation back. Tomorrow is the last day of real work for me and im looking forward to having some clear headspace and energy to go and work out.
-
I'm a lazy shit. Haven't put on the pounds just yet but there is a lot of lost definition and lost muscle mass.
I am going for the 3rd time this week and feeling better for it. I just let the holiday period get the better of me and I'm angry at myself. This week Im punishing myself with cardio. Also (safely) minimising the break times between sets. More circuit training too.

i do that too keep my heart rate up. i cut 10 minutes of a 52 minute work out by being disciplined on my "rest" times. The Garmin is perfect for it on the weight training mode.
-
@mariner4life the Mrs has a Fenix thing that cost me a new set of golf clubs. I just use my phone
-
@raznomore @mariner4life I can't do any form of exercise without the Garmin on. If it's not recorded and measured, it didn't happen. The idea of going out for a run or ride or swim without knowing how shit I was, is now insane to me.

Seconded .... I'd probably rather not exercise than not record it.
How shit is that?!?!?

I'm off the grog until May (after tonight) and going to give the "plant-based" diet a go. Not for ethical reasons. Just to see if it works for me if I give it a real go. I did it for a month last year and lost a bit of weight in a short time but felt shit. I watched Game Changers months ago and thought it was mostly selective in its delivery of truths vs fallacies. So I'm not on that bandwagon. I'm talking to a couple of guys at my gym who go vegan most of the time. They are my age, been training for about 2 years and both were in worse shape than me when they started. these guys look fucken fantastic and they reckon it all started when they gave up, mostly, the meat.
Look you can say what you like about the vegan thing. I know I've said my fair share but I'm down to try anything to see if I get results.

Im doing an extreme 8 weeker. 5x a week training. A completely unsustainable diet of 7 meals a day and about $60 worth of supplements a week.

Good luck uce.
Is the diet part of some specific program that someone has set for you?
-
@ACT-Crusader about 5 years ago I did a Kris Gethin 12 week extreme program. It worked really well and I was in the best shape Ive probably ever been in. But its not sustainable. Working out twice a day 5 days a week. No cheat days. You look great but feel flat. So my wife worked out a more manageable plan with a less ridiculous diet I can slowly build-up to a more well-rounded one.
-
Haven't enjoyed training much as of late as I'm only getting there later in the night. I have gotten used to training with my wife and she usually finishes at about 8 pm. I will organise dinner for Raz jr and then we hit the gym at about 9 pm. By that stage, I've been home for a couple of hours and it's hard to get in the right mindset.
Next week I'm splitting my workouts so should enjoy it a bit more. 3 days by myself and the weekend days with the wife. And just in case anyone is wondering, workouts with my wife has become our date nights so that's why I like going....
My diet is better now I get to have a regular dinner - Healthy dinner anyway.
-
No massive weight loss but I'm feeling good. Haven't been drinking or eating shit. Mostly sticking to regular workouts and a consistent diet of tasty but healthy food.
Down to 5 meals a day. Breakfast, 3 small meals at work, and then a regular dinner sized meal.
Noticing my skin is looking healthier. More of a healthy "I work out" tan and not a fat, quarantined, self-loathing "People think I'm sad because I eat, but I eat because I'm sad.." greyish hue.

It's been a while....
So I eventually, actually got serious. I'm now 92-95kg and have been holding around that for about 6months. During covid I got up to 117!
We moved house just before Xmas(worst move of our lives, worse than moving countries) and I injured myself(quad) carrying a microwave. Fairly routine carrying situation but my leg gave out under the weight. If you knew me, specifically as a younger man I carried about 10% body fat and was very thin. So what I'm driving at is that although I'm Samoan my frame was never built for that type of weight. Especially at just barely over 6 feet.
My wife as I've mentioned is a PT and I could tell she was very disappointed at how I had let myself go. The injury wasn't serious but it woke me up to myself. "Fat c@nt you got injured carrying a microwave up a flight of stairs. Lose some weight. "
So I stopped eating take away. Cold turkey. I limited drinking to one weekend a month, then not at all. Just lost my taste for it. I work out regularly but not crazy. 3-4 times a week. Mix of cardio and weights. But I'm not trying to set the world on fire with PBs. Just routine.
I'll drink if it's offered or if we go out for dinner but other wise I'm drinking water. As I said on the most missed thread, I spend more meaningful time with my family. Walks, hikes and activities. It's great for me. I feel like I wasted so much time previously.
I feel really good all of the time. I stopped snoring and my family love it. Work is full on as it was before but now when I come home I don't just flop on the couch. I want to do things. It's all cliche, look good, feel good etc. But I do and I think anyone who actually gives over to making the change and doing so for good will know they've made a life changing decision. Previously it was about fooling myself into thinking I could look like Bartman did when he was training he house down or the many young pricks down at burleigh beach. With their 6 packs etc. Thats not really always achievable, in my case it isn't. And the less realistic your expectations are the less likely you are to succeed. So I focused on not injuring myself doing menial tasks for a start. Then being able to run without it hurting all over. Then being able to fit a jacket I had never worn because it was too small from the get go.
Small achievable goals. Just 1 after the other.
-
@raznomore mate, thats awesome. Really impressive. Losing 22-25kgs is an amazing effort.
Sounds like you're in a pretty solid space family-wise which is also great.
One thing though, tell me honestly - other than the injury pain initially, it must have been a shit-ton of fun eating and drinking your way to that weight...😁
