Always illegal was the term used in the Canes/Blues game as well.
Seems fair. If going into contact illegally you can’t cry “but he ducked”Yep, and it makes it clear for the fans. It's better when you can look at a replay and predict what the ruling will be.
I think in past years it's been more of a lottery.

- High and no arms tackles. Numerous instances from both sides. No issue with the red card, poor technique and a falling George North but no arms so recklessness was there. I thought the clothes line on Young’s in the build up to Daly’s try was worse, although not so dangerous. I felt the dangerous tackle issue was not handled well at all.
Just watched the Tuilagi tackle. Red all day - flew in, no arms, and first contact is to the head. Eddie Jones has gone off the deep end, but he's dead set wrong.
Yeah - that's not a surprising red, so the question is - What's Eddie's game?
I reckon it's a bit of referee intimidation. Next time a ref's got a close penalty/yellow/red decision to make, he might think, "Eddie's going to have a crack at me" and so give a bit of benefit of the doubt.
Maybe Eddie should get a week in the bin!

WR (or is it 6N?) don’t do themselves any favours when it comes to public perception do they?
A whole day to address the question of Marlers actions and nothing forthcoming.
I get that it was a Sunday but that shouldn’t play any part when there are citing deadlines.
They should have front-footed this even if it was just to say that the citing officials will be looking at it and have until x to report back.
Instead they let the media run with allsorts.
I don’t know many jobs where doing what he did wouldn’t result in severe disciplinary action. To act like “it’s part of the game” does rugby a disservice. It may be part of the public schoolboy culture that still hangs around the sport in England but that’s all the more reason to act -

I’m talking about public perception. It’s all very well for rugby fans to brush it aside as part of the game but it doesn’t reflect well on a sport I love.
I do get that things can be a bit different when on a sports field such as copping a punch that doesn’t result in an assault charge but that is also precisely why the punishment for assault on field is dealt with in a stronger way than it used to.
I m not precious about what happened just saying that WR has allowed all and sundry to think that they don’t care much if someone grabs someone else’s cock during a game. That cat is now out of the bag and any actions now will look reactionary -
as long as they dont turn around and reverse MT's card...

@Crucial I can imagine he would have only just started waking up as they lifted him onto the stretcher if he had dared do it to Buck Shelford.
Yeah Buck was tough eh! Grrr! AWJ is a big pussy! Buck would have smashed him man.

@Crucial I'm off to a client's today so may toss them a rugby ball and do a nice legal hit at waist height. Should be ok with that eh? It's not even penalty material.
make sure you wrap
