Coronavirus - Australia

So Australia managed to get to a low of 482 confirmed active cases a fortnight ago and only 11 cases in hospital a week ago. Thanks to the insufferable incompetence of Chairman Dan and the People's Democratic Republic of Victoria, there's now over 1000 confirmed active cases and an estimated 3000 residents in inner-city tower blocks in Melbourne are locked in. 500 police have been deployed to ensure no one enters or leaves these premises.

It’s quite a story if any of it is true: randy security guards banging hotel guests under quarantine, when they actually do go to work. It sounds like a great movie premise.

NSW to close the Victorian border today. Finally. I've been calling for this for years.
Hopefully that's positive for the trans Ta$man bubble

Closes midnight tomorrow, so hopefully enough time to get rid of some of those NSW leeches that are here...

Would this prevent animal movements between borders? If we wanted to move a horse from Vic to NSW would that be allowed?

I don't believe that - one only has to look at pictures of the security to be sceptical of such a claim. As is the likelihood of catching covid by borrowing a lighter.
Do journalists bother applying a bullshit detector to this crap, or are they busy trying to drum up outrage?

@antipodean Its certainly more publicly palatable than the other causes.

An influencer is not a real thing!!!

No and yes, and they spelled rooting wrong as well.

@mariner4life There is no worse type of person than the self described social media influencer.

I cannot understand any of these morons that choose to return to thier home country, in full knowledge they are to be in isolation for a period, and then either escape (like that muppet and the one in NZ) or whinge about it.
Fuck off

Fucking Mexicans:
Of Monday’s cases, 44 per cent were in local government areas with no locked down postcodes, including 86 active cases in the LGA of Wyndham, in Melbourne’s southwest. The urgent meeting follows Monday’s daily tally of 127 cases - the highest daily increase since the pandemic began.
Services at one of Melbourne’s busiest hospitals have been cut back after seven staff members in the emergency department tested positive to COVID-19 over the past five days.
